For many the new year has brought a continuing sense of anxiety, with stress from smell of smoke and news of so many people and animals affected by our widespread devasting bush fires. Our only response can often be to want to reach out as a community to help, comfort and raise our voices to protest with and support those in need!
Annandale locals are getting together to do a fund raiser auction at the 'Vic' pub in Enmore. Many local businesses and musicians, including Evolution Pilates, will be donating gift vouchers for sessions.
Saturday 8th February 3pm onwards

Lucy's Bio
Lucy has graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, after a year of health science

Lucy completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University, Albury, after a year of health science study. She enjoyed a variety of clinical settings at Barwon Health (Geelong) encompassing women's health, cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal and vestibular/neurological physiotherapy.

Lucy has a strong interest in sporting injuries and worked as the Head Sports Trainer at an amateur AFL team for 2 seasons. Lucy believes that the key to effective rehabilitation and future injury prevention is to empower patients to take control of their own health.

With a 10 year background of full-time ballet training, Lucy has gained an in-depth understanding of the demands on the body that occur and what it takes to become a successful dancer. She has a keen interest in dance rehabilitation and injury prevention.

Having recently moved to Sydney she is on the hunt for the best hiking locations. Otherwise, in her spare time, she enjoys staying fit, spending time at the beach and with friends.

Lucy is excited to be joining the team at Evolution Pilates and Activate Physio.

Sway Back Posture. That Strain on the lumbar.

People often think of a ‘ sway’ back as being a spine with TOO MUCH curve in the low lumbar area. However according to “Kendall’, the definition is different in the mind of a health practitioner or Pilates instructor. People with sway back posture have an increased long thoracic rib-cage back ward curve and pelvis and hips that push forward over the toes. The result of this that the base of the thoracic rib-cage puts excessive strain on the upper lumbar facet joints, The upper abdominal is tight, diaphragm expansion is restricted and lower abdominal muscles switch off, as the body can cheat by ‘ hanging’ off the front hip ligaments. The gluteal muscles do not need to work, and hamstring muscles can often be tight or over active. The upper chest caves in with the pectoralis chest muscles becoming tight, also causing the neck to poke forward.
