January 2016

A Note from Jessie

Happiest of New Year wishes to you! 2016 has arrived.

How was your New Year's Eve? Did you party with friends? Hang out with your family? Kiss someone at midnight? Did you sing Auld Lang Syne?

In "When Harry Met Sally," Billy Crystal's character, Harry wonders, "What does this song mean? My whole life, I don't know what this song means. I mean, 'Should old acquaintance be forgot?' Does that mean that we should forget old acquaintances. Or does it mean that if we happened to forget them, we should remember them, which is not possible because we already forgot them?"

"Well, maybe it just means that we should remember that we forgot them or something," Sally reasons. "Anyway,
it's about old friends."

Auld Lang Syne is poem written in 1788 by Robert Burns. I did some research for a modern translation of the poem and found this by english-zone.com.

Times Gone By

Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago!

Chorus:
For times gone by, my dear
For times gone by,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
For times gone by.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
For times gone by.

We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since times gone by.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill drink (of ale)
For times gone by!

And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet
For times gone by!

Remember any day of the year is a good day to express love and appreciation for your friends.

I raise my glass to you my friend and wish you your best year yet! Jessie

Book of the Month

The Raw Materials of Miracles - How to Allow the Expansion of Everything
by Dana Reynolds

This book is simply beautiful. I was hooked and inspired at the 'About This Book' page before I even began Chapter 1. No matter what your faith or your belief in God, or not sure of your spiritual journey, if you're going through a tough time, or  just looking for inspiration, this book is for you. The Raw Materials of Miracles will inspire, challenge and encourage you.  Jessie

The book began as an inspired correspondence between two women: One asking. The other allowing the answers to unfold. If you are a light-worker facing an overwhelming situation, if you are afraid to admit you are suffering, if you are struggling with fear or a sense of defeat; this book will shift your perspective. This book will offer you clarity. Everything you experience is your contribution to the ever-expanding experience of God. This unending creation is a result of contrast striking the equilibrium of your life. Contrast is half of the equation of reality. The other half is you. Your job isn't to endure creation; It isn't to resist what happens. Your job is to allow the full experience to unfold and lead you on your soul's highest journey. This book tells you how. Mythology, metaphor, science fiction, or scripture; whatever you decide, you have called this book into your experience as sure as if you created it yourself -- and in the broadest sense of God-is-everything-including-you, you did. It is yours now. So, here you are. Right now you are in the perfect place with perfect timing, and though you are here with questions, and perhaps some pain and confusion, perfect clarity is within you, rather than in the pages of this book. What you read here may trigger your memory; Recall your innocent self, who accepted each day as a new adventure, and launched into play with a single minded determination to have fun. May you be inspired to look at things through that lens of child-like possibility. May you reclaim the word 'make-believe' and understand it is the job description of God. All of the proceeds of this edition go to the co-creator of this work: the one who dared to ask.
