The Department of Forensic Science (DFS) received notification today that a contract employee who works in the Northern Laboratory has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in the Northern Laboratory on March 27th. Additionally, a second contract employee, who worked with the initial positive contract employee, was sent home immediately today after reporting that he/she was not feeling well. Governor Northam Announces Additional Actions Providing Relief for Restaurants and Distilleries Impacted by COVID-19 Pandemic

Executive directive defers collection of annual fees for ABC-issued licenses and permits, allows delivery of mixed beverages

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today issued an executive directive authorizing the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) to defer annual fees for licenses and permits that would be up for renewal through June. The Governor also directed the Virginia ABC to allow establishments with mixed beverage licenses, such as restaurants and distilleries, to sell mixed beverages through takeout or delivery, effective at midnight Thursday.

... Many Virginia restaurants have pivoted from dine-in establishments to a combination of takeout, delivery, or makeshift drive-thrus in an effort to maintain operations amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These establishments often rely on alcohol sales to meet profit margins, and this temporary privilege will support restaurants that have lost a substantial stream of revenue from the sale of mixed beverages, and distilleries that have been unable to provide their products to the public and suffered financial losses.

Personnel (Employment) Testing During the COVID-19 Crisis: Best Practices from Stanard & Associates

As the testing partner of the VACP, Stanard & Associates wanted to share this information with you:
Many departments are finding it critical to keep their staffing levels up during the pandemic and traditional in-person/on-site testing methods are not able to be conducted due to shelter in place restrictions and/or departments closing their facilities to the public. As a result, Stanard & Associates last week launched a NEW form of the POST Exam (Form E), which is offered EXCLUSIVELY ONLINE and allows agencies to provide usernames and password to their candidates via email.

With this new online form, candidates can take the exam in the comfort of their own home with the tests scored by S&A and results sent to the authorized department contact.  This new testing option has been extremely well received by agencies looking for a solution to keep their hiring processes on track.

To order this new Online-Only "Form E" from the VACP, you can simply indicate "E" for the Form Type on the POST Order Form (even though "E" is not listed as an option). You will also need to sign a NEW Security Agreement form.

Any questions about ordering Police Officer Selection Test (POST) exams from the VACP can be directed to Suzanne Robinson at
