The Leverage Network, Inc. will host and facilitate a panel discussion on “A Conversation about Race in Healthcare: Have you made a Difference?” during NAHSE’s 30th Annual Educational Conference, October 13-16, 2015 in New Orleans, LA. The Panel discussion will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 – 2:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m.
The healthcare industry has been having “a conversation about race” for more than three (3) decades yet we have seen little to no progress in fair representation of minorities in senior leadership and governance roles. Organizations like the AHA Institute for Diversity and NAACP have conducted surveys demonstrating that there is still much work to be done in the area of diversity. While we might agree that “blatant” racism is not apparent in the healthcare industry, we must admit that subtle bias and stereotyping still exist. The question becomes, what are YOU doing to change the dynamics?
Join us for a candid and provocative conversation about race in healthcare and its impact on equity of care. Our panelists will discuss candidly, the diversity work being done in their own organizations and their response to today’s environment. We will then challenge the audience to make a real difference by committing to increasing leadership and governance diversity in their own organizations and holding others accountable.
