Biddy's is now "the O'Neill Public House"!
I've been the music booking agent for Biddy McGraw's Irish Pub for over two and a half years now. And I've played there many times over the years. While it's going to take a lot of getting used to for everyone, the club has changed its name and will henceforth be known as the O'Neill Public House! It's the same bar, same owners for the past year -- just a new name. I've built a new website at theoneillpub.com. Soon it'll have a fancy dynamic calendar with rich content like it used to have -- a calendar worthy of the fabulous music program we have there!
Thursday is St. Patrick's Day -- our biggest event of the year! We have a fantastic lineup of which I'm proud: 8 bands and dancers, starting at noon and going until 1:30am! And one of the acts is my humble but mighty bluegrass collective, Train River, moonlighting as an Irish band: Flauren will provide wondrous fiddling for a bunch of jigs, reels, and hornpipes, we'll have Steve Cleveland on accordion and Patrick Curtain on bass, and I'll sing some funny drinking songs! We play from 4:30-5:30. The cover is $10, but hey, that's only $1.25 per band... View the facebook event here.
Wednesday (tonight) the Hot Club of Hawthorne is back at Bar Carlo. It's already been a year of 3rd Wednesdays there! And it's been among our favorite gigs. Great food and drinks. The sound in the dining room is good, too. 7-10pm; we'll play two long sets, the first of which ends before the kids have to leave at 8:30, so you can bring the kids out for dinner and a whole long set of live gypsy swing!
