We just got back from walking the Heaphy Track in Kahurangi National Park. This great walk is in our back yard and it had been 12 years since we last walked it. This time it was 9 girls (the Gaitor Girls) filling our buckets with fresh air, Takahe & Kiwi spotting, fairy forests and weta filled caves. 200 year old Nikau forests and ancient rata trees.
Each hut was left with a fresh SPRUCE cloth to clean up the kitchens. It is the perfect place to pop a compostable cloth that can do no harm. Our packs were full of Goodie Bag packed essentials, first aid, snacks, fresh clothes and nightly meals. Loot Bags held crackers, pita and the large one stuffed with a puffer made the perfect pillow.
