PTA Update - January 2023

Kindness Week - January 23 - 27

Our school is proudly participating in The Great Kindness Challenge, a week-long program dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion in communities worldwide. Click here to learn more.

Please give ~15 minutes of your time to complete an online survey that will help improve your child’s school. YouthTruth – a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the country – is conducting an anonymous survey on Santa Rosa City Schools behalf.

Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on January 27th by clicking this link:  ytsurvey.org/santarosafamily23.

Please note:

  • The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
  • We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
  • If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
  • If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your response is incredibly valuable to us.

If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact Amanda Welter (Davis).

Children's Book Drive - February 6 - 24

Donate new and gently used Children's Books so we can redistribute to other Proctor students.

We are excited to BRING BACK THE PARTY and celebrate our school and community!

Proctor Terrace Elementary school’s annual “Dinner, Dance and Auction Gala” will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm at the Saturday Afternoon Club in downtown Santa Rosa.

Dinner will be catered by KIN Smoke. There will be drinks, DJ, dancing, and a one-of-a-kind photo BUS! You'll have the opportunity to support Proctor Terrace by bidding on items in our silent and live auction, featuring 5-night stays in Hawaii and Lake Almanor.

Event tickets are available as well as sponsorship options and donation opportunities. Click here or visit proctorterracepta.org/dda to purchase tickets (limited number available) and learn more about supporting the event.

If you have questions, comments, or suggestions please contact Lisa Buerger and/or Melissa Wadlow.

We are so lucky to offer a variety of after school enrichment opportunities! Check them out on the PTA website!
We will be looking for a volunteer to take over the organizing after school enrichment next year (2023/2024 school year.) Please email Kate Lewis with interest.

News From the Garden

Our Garden Coordinator is keeping busy, in spite of the rain and we have plenty planned for the coming months!

We were so pleased with the SeedMoney crowdfunding campaign, which raised $1980 for the garden, including $400 in SeedMoney grants!  These funds will help our Food Garden get new gravel paths, irrigation repairs and an upgraded raised bed to replace the crumbling one.

This is also the time of year seed companies are donating prior year’s seeds and Carla has been busy sending out multiple seed donation requests. Generally, we receive between $300-800 in seed donations each year. Much of what we grow in the food garden is from the seed grants, though some of the tried and true things we grow must be purchased (popcorn, peppers and some tomatoes). Donated packs of seeds are also given as rewards and prizes in classes.

Although classes are not in the garden on rainy days, classes can still bring the outdoor in with these optional activities:
- Story time (TK-3)
- Make seed tape (practice fine motor skills and measuring)
- Seed anatomy and dissection
- Experiments left in the classroom for daily observation

Join other families in the garden on Sunday, January 22 from 9 - 12 for a work day! Sign up here.

- Communications (board position for the 23/24 year)
- Enrichment (volunteer for the 23/24 year)
- Yearbook
- Teacher Appreciation

Please email ptaboard@proctorterracepta.org with interest, questions, or ideas!
