JUNE 2018

Hello Dear Friends,
I pray that all is well with you and yours.  I am writing to let you know what has been happening at River Valley Christian Life Corps as we are finishing a full month here.  It seems that every month is full and God carries us through as we seek to do His will.
Last Thursday was our annual Fundraiser at Sweet Bay.  It was very successful in that we were blessed with great entertainment, standing room only, even with the hot and humid weather.  We are thankful for the radio coverage from 98.7 Live as they partnered with us for this fundraiser and provided live coverage during the event.  We are thankful for each donor that contributed and all those that volunteered their time to make it happen.  We know that God provided and blessed these efforts.  We easily saw His influence through it all.
Last Saturday was our annual Family Picnic in memory of my husband, Larry Payne.   June 25th was his birthday so my family enjoyed getting to celebrate his life with all of those connected with RVCLC.  The weather was perfect and the food was plentiful and delicious.  We also matched four Mentors and Mentees.  Please pray for these new relationships so that God will be glorified and this ministry will be blessed with a great graduation time next June.
Also, please pray for the Parenting Class we have planned for August 30th.  We are blessed to have David Bourne teaching.  Also, please pray for our September annual Prayer Walk/Event which we are now planning.  We are seeking a Church to host and to facilitate this event.
Our Participants’ prayers needs are for employment, shelter,  family relationships to be restored, and spiritual growth in their relationship with God.  We are getting a lot of new participants,  so please pray that they will remain committed to this new life they are wanting to experience.
One last thing I would like to share with you.  Tuesday morning we discovered two huge bags of clothes up against our front door.  We put them inside our lobby but did not have time to look to see what was in the bags.  Today a new participant came in and as she was leaving, she asked if we possibly had some shoes.  I looked down at her feet and saw that she was wearing a very inexpensive pair of flip flops.  I explained to her that we no longer kept clothes and such because we have no place to store them.  When we are given donations of clothes, if none of our participants can use them, we pass them on to Helping Hand where they can be given to someone in need. I asked the lady what size she needed because I thought, “ I can mention this need in this email which I knew we would be sending out today.  She answered, “ a size 10.”  Mary reminded me that we hadn’t looked in those bags yet.  So I started looking and it was mostly children’s clothes.  It was then I felt a shoe and guess what.  It was a size 10 tennis shoe.  I had a hard time finding the match but in the process of looking, Mary also found a pair of size 10 flats.  Needless to say,  God  provided what she needed and she immediately began praising  and thanking Him.  Her legs and feet are her transportation right now so this was a big blessing for her.
Praying many blessings to you and For His Glory,
Linda P.
