Decorative Darning Bookmark

Focus this month will be on hemming the edges.

Using a repeating darning pattern and hemmed edges, Katie shares her idea for making an attractive bookmark with just a few supplies. It's a great project to have available for the next bookmark donation and it uses up small pieces of linen that may not have another use.

It's not too late to join us, here is the design. Supplies needed are 5" x 11" 28 or 32 count linen, one color of No. 8 pearl cotton, sewing thread to match linen and tapestry needle.

Daffodils Please Mountmellick

Kits have been ordered and will be distributed at the March meeting. Stitchers should have the design traced onto the fabric for the April meeting.

Patty will lead our learning of twelve traditional Mountmellick Embroidery stitches in this lovely design of daffodils and snowdrops from Ireland. The design size is roughly 6 x 7 inches.

If you would like to gather the necessary supplies, the pattern and instructions may be downloaded by stitchers by visiting Fabrics and threads necessary to complete are listed in the pattern.

Other required materials not included in the kit are a hoop or bars, scissors, water soluble transfer pen, and a needle threader may be helpful. The fabric size should be 13" x 14" for those looking to use stretcher bars.

On second thought? Don't feel that you can't join us in April because you didn't order the kit. There is still plenty of time to gather supplies.
