Winter 2022 Newsletter

As we work towards the festive break, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the past year, and and say thank you to all the wonderful clients, supporters and collaborators that we've worked with over the last few years.

2022 also saw a significant milestone for the studio, as we celebrated our 10th anniversary. We will be celebrating this milestone by reflecting on 10 highlights of the past 10 years, through 10x10 retrospective posts on our Instagram which we will be posting throughout 2023.

Looking forward to 2023, we are very excited to have been appointed on several new interesting and innovative projects and ventures, which we will share more on as they develop!

In the meantime, here is a quick round up of some current projects and exciting new collaborations.

The Collective Canary Wharf Co-living

We are delighted to be appointed by Crosstree Real Estate Partners to produce a re-imagined vision of the interiors for their latest acquisition, The Collective’s 20 storey tower in Canary Wharf. The project will reorganise and rationalise the existing amenity areas, providing new F&B offers and improved facilities for the residents. The project also introduces new mezzanine studios for co-living, which have been sensitively designed within the existing fabric, making best use of double height spaces, and introducing creative interior solutions.

Grade II Listed Hertfordshire Estate

We are excited to continue our development of works for this estate-wide project in Hertfordshire, set amongst extensive grounds and wider woodlands. Our scheme includes renovation works to a Grade II listed former Georgian rectory, as well as the introduction of a natural swimming pool and pool house to the grounds.

The pool house is situated in place of a disused tennis court and will include the provision of a reed filtration natural swimming pool, outdoor dining areas and a yoga studio. The pool house is designed using natural materials and intends to blur the boundaries of the interior and the exterior, highlighting the expansive views over the rolling East Hertfordshire landscape.

Other works include a relocated driveway and rewilding works to help improve the immediate setting and address privacy concerns, and to install extensive PV arrays in one of the fields to deliver our clients’ ambitions to achieve operational net zero carbon across the estate.

London Wall Seasonal Pavilion

Our proposal for a seasonal outdoor pavilion at London Wall Place, commissioned by Cultural Mile; a joint initiative led by City of London Corporation, Brookfield Projects and the Barbican can finally be revealed. The pavilion intends to provide a contextual temporary shelter for the Barbican’s rolling programme of summer music performances in collaboration with London Symphony Orchestra.

The proposal was inspired by historic images of stained-glass windows from the chapel which once occupied the site and the need for a cost effective functional design. These ideals are reflected within our design of a modular faceted timber structure with a vibrant contemporary coloured canopy that can be reassembled from a kit of parts each summer.

The project is currently unrealised at London Wall Place - watch this space for future installations.

Belsize Park Façade Retention

Our complex refurbishment and façade retention scheme in a Belsize Park Conservation Area is set to complete mid-2023. The existing building was experiencing severe subsidence, providing us with both a challenge and an opportunity, to preserve the façade of the property whilst completely re-building and re-imagining the remainder of the home.

The scheme features a new basement covering the entire footprint of the existing property, which will include a cinema, guest room and playroom. The whole scheme also provides many exciting and unique opportunities for interior design, which we will continue to develop into the New Year.

Hall Gate House

We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Cantifix Shattered Glass Award in Wellbeing for our Hall Gate House refurbishment project which includes a new basement, rear glazed extension and the creation of multiple glazed internal and external lightwells. The scheme provides a connection between the existing house and the garden, enhancing the link with nature and wellbeing for the family.
We'd love to tell you more about what we do.
