VENTURIDE Newsletter #10 - March 2017

Hello from Namibia,

The last newsletter was sent 6 weeks ago from Kenya, and since then, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia have opened their wide doors to my motorbike. My next destination is South Africa where I will ship by air my motorbike to South America on April 5th.

Before I share with you a selection of photos of some of my "moments that matters", I'd like to apologise to the French readers who may have been negatively surprised to receive my email promoting my brother's political aspirations for the French Legislative Elections later this year. Like Francois Fillon back home, I apologise ;)

Since this sixth newsletter represents the halfway of my travels, I will only share with you some of the most memorable moments which took place in the last 6 months. So many things happened so the selection was tough but I hope you will enjoy it.  It will only be in next month's newsletter that I will describe my journey across Africa, only because I still  have South Africa to discover, and I would prefer to give the full picture, all together in one single newsletter.

For my French followers, I've tried to capture most of my findings and observations in my logbook, but I know that most of you prefer to check out pictures so here is the latest photo album! As usual, you can also find a selection here! My itinerary across Africa can be visible here

I hope you are well and thanks for reading.

Since leaving London on September 3rd, I have been very lucky as I haven't encountered many issues. I've enjoyed every second of my trip, learnt from every single human encounter my path offered, and have been impressed by the variety of landscapes Mother Nature has to offer. Some roads have been tougher than others, especially in Africa but the bike is still switching on when I turn the key so touch wood it will stay like this.
Some of the most memorable moments of my last 6 months...
From a flat tire on the first day... to my first night as a CouchSufer with a Syrian family in a broken down motorbike in Kosovo while riding across Europe with my Dad...
From spending a night with some local Turks to having some fruitful discussions on Erdogan's political agenda whilst having breakfast in Kurdistan with a journalist who had spent time in jail because of his meeting a group of riders in one of Iran's most hostile having your girlfriend come over in India...
From being hosted like a king in Dubai by Karima and Sylvestre for a week to being offered 2 nights at the Marriott in Oman after having slept outside of petrol stations or by the side of the road for discovering Cambodia with my family...and to travel from the east coast of Africa in Kenya to the west coast in Namibia....
From shipping my motorbike to Iran or Kenya to falling countless times on the tough off-road terrains of Iran, Turkey, Oman but even more so in discovering the sad history of Sarajevo with my having dinner with Tristan and Cyriac, friends from back home in learning about Albania's past under Enver Hoxha...
