BAT FOR LASHES - THE BRIDE
Double vinyl LP pressing. 2016 release, the fourth album from British singer/songwriter Bat for Lashes AKA Natasha Khan. The Bride is a concept album that follows the story of a woman, whose fiancé dies in a car crash on the way to their wedding. The album follows her as she decides to go on the honeymoon alone and her emotions as she deals with the tragedy. The album was created with past collaborators Simone Felice, Dan Carey, Head and Ben Christophers. Includes the singles "In God's House" and "Sunday Love". Prior to The Bride, Bat For Lashes has released three studio albums - Fur And Gold (2006), Two Suns (2009) and The Haunted Man (2012) - and received Mercury Prize nominations for Fur And Gold and Two Suns. Khan is also the vocalist for Sexwitch, a collaboration with the rock band Toy and producer Dan Carey.
BLINK-182 - CALIFORNIA
Limited vinyl LP pressing including digital download. 2016 release, the seventh album from the punk-pop band, their first to feature Matt Skiba –who replaces original member Tom DeLonge - alongside Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. The album was recorded at Foxy Studios between January and March 2016 with producer John Feldmann. He was the group's first new producer since longtime collaborator Jerry Finn. Prior to his involvement, the trio began writing together some months earlier and completed dozens of songs. They decided to shelve them upon working with Feldmann to start fresh, and they proceeded to record another 28 songs; in all, the group recorded upwards of 50. The band, as well as Feldmann, would regularly spend "18 hours" in the studio a day, aiming to start and complete multiple songs in that timeframe. The album's title comes from the band's home state of California, and its artwork was illustrated by the street artist D*Face.
OASIS - DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold sleeve including digital download. Don't Believe the Truth is the sixth studio album by Britpop band, originally released in May 2005. The album reached #1 in the UK Albums Chart with first week sales of just under 238,000, and is the 32nd fastest selling album ever in the UK. The album entered the US charts at number 12, with 65,000 copies sold in the first week, the highest any Oasis album had reached there since 1997's Be Here Now. Every member of the band contributed to the writing of tracks for the album, and the album is the first where all duties were divided between the band members. On some of the tracks regular bass player Andy Bell handled guitar, while Gem Archer and Noel Gallagher contributed bass to other songs. Don't Believe the Truth is the first Oasis record to feature the drumming of Zak Starkey who, while not an official member of Oasis, performed and toured with them following the departure of longtime drummer Alan White.
THEE OH SEES - LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO
Limited vinyl LP pressing with 3D lenticular cover. The Clones of Dr. Funkenstein was originally released in September of 1976. The album is notable for featuring horn arrangements by ex-James Brown band member, Fred Wesley. The album charted at #3 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart, #20 on the Billboard pop chart, and became Parliament's second album to be certified gold. Two singles were released off the album, "Do That Stuff", which charted at #22, and "Dr. Funkenstein" which charted at #43. Parliament was originally The Parliaments, a doo-wop vocal group based at a Plainfield, New Jersey barbershop. The group was formed in the late 1950s and included George Clinton, Ray Davis, Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, and Grady Thomas. Clinton was the group leader and manager. The group finally had a hit single in 1967 with "(I Wanna) Testify" on Revilot Records. During a contractual dispute with Revilot, Clinton temporarily lost the rights to the name "The Parliaments", and signed the ensemble to Westbound Records as Funkadelic, which Clinton positioned as a funk-rock band featuring the five touring musicians with the five Parliaments singers as uncredited guests. With Funkadelic as a recording and touring entity in its own right, in 1970 Clinton relaunched the singing group, now known as Parliament, at first featuring the same ten members. Clinton was now the leader of two different acts, Parliament and Funkadelic, which featured the same members but were marketed as creating two different types of funk.
MAXWELL black SUMMERS' night
Maxwell's straight-up approach to soul music has both endeared him to R&B fans and solidified his standing with names like Marvin Gaye or Luther Vandross. It's remarkable how he's been able to continue crafting sounds that stay firmly within the contemporary R&B lane without coming off stale or dated.
The imperatively titled blackSUMMERS'night — bold the "SUMMERS" please — is his fifth studio album, second in a scheduled trilogy of albums and first in seven years. Yet here we are, with tracks evoking previous efforts while remaining fresh to the ear.
Consider him the 43-year-old the male version of Sade, an artist who has countless times refined a particular musical mode into a gleaming diamond shine.
The album opens with the carefully burning All The Ways Love Can Feel, a track that pulses with the kind of soul (fill in your choice of R&B wannabes) are always trying to achieve; a cut that implements a live band that gives the music much more life than the canned synthesizers that run amok on the radio today.
Sonically, the album's sound is purring percussion, soothing electronics and stirring orchestral vibes. Lyrically, the themes remain the same — the mysteries of love, emotion and regret — yet feature enough new twists to maintain engagement throughout. The breezy "1990x" comes off like it was created in the decade it's named after, a chill cut that sounds like it was left off his 1996 Urban Hang Suitedebut. "Lake By The Ocean" is a blast of modern soul, deceptively simple in approach yet with resourceful impact. “The Fall” is potent in its fullness, "Gods" is effervescent yet down-to-earth and the serene "Hostage" dabbles with the irony of commitment. BlackSUMMERS'night represents a soul music practicum, a dose of modern R&B that resists deconstruction. A perfect record for your next summers night party.

Cole Quest and The City Pickers are a group of New York City musicians connected by friendship and a love of bluegrass. Cole Quest, grandson of the folk icon Woody Guthrie, has brought together a collection of eclectic pickers who have gained recognition on the local scene. Performing both Quest's original tunes as well as traditional favorites, The City Pickers bring their special brand of high-spirited talent to the stage, with up-beat, knee slapping energy and a high lonesome sound that'll leave you wanting more.
"Cole Quest and the City Pickers spread the good word of Bluegrass through clever original songs and a vast library of classics. Their unbridled energy, tight harmonies and instrumental virtuosity will turn you into a believer in the good book of acoustic roots music.”
- Steve Danielsson (Feast of Music)
"Intent on getting her music out as it happens, Fino’s second EP within a year continues to grapple with the millennial perils of post-bust America. “I live beneath a bridge near a garbage truck that tells me when it’s morning.” And so begins the single “Touch Me,” a monster tune with the relentless tide of “Sympathy For The Devil” driving her reverberant howls and “Hey Heys” while the Lovely Misfits (pianist and right hand man Ryan Shapiro, violist Allyson Clare, bassist Pete O’Neill, and drummer Neil Nunziato) bash and slam like hell itself was heating up outside the studio door.”
-Mike Jurkovic (Elmore Magazine)
