A Call
to Stand in Solidarity
and Act in Love

Sunday, December 18, 2016
Assemble at 1:30 (see assembly points below), and
March to Harmony Park in the Oakhurst Village business district for a Rally at 2:00 p.m.

Now more than ever we must stand up to the forces of
  racism, xenophobia, sexism,
  homophobia, transphobia, and islamophobia
infecting our nation and our world.
Together, we must act for justice, compassion, dignity and equality
for all people.

We will march at 1:30 from these assembly points:
  • Atlanta Friends Meeting, 701 W Howard Ave, Decatur, GA 30030
  • Oakhurst Baptist Church, 222 East Lake Drive, Decatur, GA  30030
  • Oakhurst Presbyterian Church, 118 2nd Ave, Decatur, GA 30030
Those with mobility issues are invited to park at Atlanta Friends Meeting to car pool to Harmony Park.

In case of rain: rally at Oakhurst Presbyterian Church (Fellowship Hall) at 2:00 p.m.
Bring signs, banners, and information about what your organization is doing.

Speakers and performers when we gather at Harmony Park:

  • R. Tariq Abdul-Haqq , Islamic Speakers Bureau
  • Royce Mann, Paideia School
  • Chanel Haley, Transgender Inclusion Organizer for Georgia Equality

Two years ago, we rallied in Harmony Park to protest the killings of young Black men in Ferguson, Missouri, in Baltimore, New York, Florida and other places, insisting that Black Lives Matter.

That gathering led to the birth of Create Community 4 Decatur: Black Lives Matter.  CC4D:BLM works in coalition with other justice-minded organizations in Decatur and Atlanta to build community and act for justice. We know our work doesn’t end here. We encourage each of you work in the new year with the many groups that have come together today, as together we build the Beloved Community.
