You are invited to the 4th annual Empowering You Health Fair, hosted by The Junior League of Philadelphia! The fair is free and open to the public. Training: Now Accepting Spring ODI Applications
Are you interested in learning more about yourself, leadership, and the Junior League? Consider applying to attend the Association of Junior League International's Organizational Development Institute (ODI) in Pittsburgh, PA June 9 through 11, 2017. ODI is a training opportunity where attendees elect to attend coursework in achieving community impact, fundraising, governance, membership development, or nonprofit affairs. The Junior League of Philadelphia pays for selected expenses for delegates to attend ODI a few times a year. The application for this opportunity is available under the "Forms" menu on the member site of the JLP website. Please fill it out electronically and email it to JLPNominatingCommittee@gmail.com by April 14, 2017. Do you know a committee or fellow Junior Leaguer who went beyond the call of duty this year? Now is your chance to recognize and thank her for her great contributions to our organization – the 2016-2017 Award Nomination forms are now live on the JLP website and awards will be accepted through April 21, 2017.

Committee of the Year
Volunteer of the Year - this award can be given to any active member of JLP who has shown tremendous commitment to our organization in the past year.
Leader of the Year - this award can be given to any member in leadership (Board, Management Council or Committee Chair) in the 2016-2017 year who has demonstrated exceptional service to JLP.

Actives Becoming Sustainers
An Active member in good standing who has completed a minimum of 10 years of Active service, or who is at least 40 years old and has completed a minimum of five (5) years of Active service, may change to Sustainer membership status by sending an email to Kelly Steyn, Placement Chair, or Rebecca Calder, Placement Chair-Elect. All requests must be submitted by the close of business on April 14, 2017. Active members in good standing who wish to become Sustainers must complete this year's general membership requirements by the end of the current League year. Questions regarding your membership status, eligibility, or related requests should be directed to Kelly Steyn, Placement Chair, or Rebecca Calder, Placement Chair-Elect.
Center City Quota Party
The Thrift Shop Committee invites you to join us for an afternoon of hanging quota and socializing! Rather than asking city-dwelling members to bring quota to us, we're bringing the chance to do quota to you! Please be sure to arrive with sufficient time to process your quota. Transfer Social at Cinder
On April 6, join the Transfer Committee for a casual social event at one of Philadelphia's newest restaurants, Cinder. This is a great opportunity to meet other Transfer members and try a new restaurant. Food and beverages will be purchased by individual attendees.
DIAD with MANNA - Mission Credit
MANNA is a nonprofit organization that cooks and delivers nutritious, medically-appropriate meals and provides nutrition counseling to neighbors who are battling life-threatening illnesses. Through their delivery of three meals a day, seven days a week, MANNA provides hope and nourishment to the Greater Philadelphia area and Southern New Jersey. Please join us on April 10 and May 1 in preparing meals for MANNA. Please note that MANNA has moved to a new location at 420 N. 20th Street in Philadelphia.
Spring Service Weekend Volunteer Opportunities
DIAD Spring Service Day with Greener Partners
Join the DIAD Committee in volunteering at Greener Partners' Guild House Farm on Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will help with spring planting and bed clean up. Greener Partners' Guild House Farm is located at Guild House West, an apartment building for low-income seniors at 1221 Fairmount Avenue in North Philadelphia. The half-acre site includes a production garden, high tunnel, orchard, and community garden for residents to grow food for themselves. The goal of Guild House Farm is to provide healthy food access to its immediate community and provide engaging, hands-on intergenerational gardening and education. We hope you will be able to participate in this great event.
DIAD Spring Service Day with POP
Join the DIAD Committee and volunteer with the Philadelphia Orchard Project (POP) on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for East Park Orchard Work Day. Volunteer activities will include weeding, mulching, and some planting at the orchards at Historic Strawberry Mansion and neighboring Woodford Mansion. Volunteers should dress comfortably and in clothes that can get dirty. The Philadelphia Orchard Project plants and supports community orchards in the city of Philadelphia. Since 2007, POP has worked with community-based groups and volunteers to plan and plant orchards filled with useful and edible plants in neighborhoods across the city. POP provides orchard design assistance, plant materials, and training in orchard care. Community organizations own, maintain, and harvest the orchards, expanding community-based food production. Orchards are planted in formerly vacant lots, community gardens, schoolyards, and other urban spaces, almost exclusively in low-wealth neighborhoods where people lack access to fresh fruit.
DIAD Spring Service Day with Face to Face
Join the DIAD committee to volunteer with Face to Face Germantown on Sunday, April 23rd from 12pm-3pn. The volunteers will be planting, weeding, and cleaning up the garden are at the community center. Volunteers should dress comfortably and in clothes that can get dirty. Please bring work gloves (although some are available on site as well) and water bottle. Face to Face is a not-for-profit human services organization dedicated to the health, well-being, and stability of our community. Face to Face meets basic human needs and reduces suffering. With hospitality, we provide a safe environment and practical tools, which enable the people of our community to confront personal challenges, empower their lives, and fulfill their unique potential. There is parking available next to the community center. To get to the garden after parking, go to the back green door and ring the bell. Staff will direct you to the garden.
DIAD Spring Service Day with Kleinlife
Join the DIAD Committee and volunteer with Kleinlife on Sunday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteer activities include planting more fruit shrubs/vines, such as grapes, figs, and other remaining fruit trees. Volunteers should dress comfortably and in clothes that can get dirty. Kleinlife is a vibrant community resource that provides social, educational, and cultural programs and vital health, wellness, and social services. Its membership is multigenerational, mixed income, and ethnically diverse. Individuals regularly come together to participate in enrichment offerings, receive vital services, enjoy each other’s company, and connect to additional resources and support.

Need a great way to relax after Spring Service Weekend? Come out and celebrate all your hard work by dining at Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar in Radnor on Sunday, April 23. Derby Day Watch Party
Let's put on fancy hats, drink mint juleps, and watch some thoroughbreds run! Join us on May 6 to watch the Kentucky Derby and mingle with ladies (and gentlemen) of the League! You're encouraged to bring your favorite Southern-inspired dish to share.

Sustainer Spring Excursion to Grounds for Sculpture
The Grounds for Sculpture has a constantly evolving collection of superb contemporary outdoor sculptures and rotating exhibits in six indoor galleries. Join us on May 9 for a private docent-led tour of the sculptures at 11 a.m. After our tour, you may choose to have lunch (at your expense) at one of the three restaurants on the grounds and continue to explore the galleries and grounds at your leisure.
