It's Rum Cake Season!!!
Hello everyone. Thank you for such a great 2021 and 2022! Let's get straight to the point. The rum cake pricing & shipping costs are going up....but not for another couple of weeks. We really, really, REALLY hate to do this. If you would like to share cakes at last year's pricing, please order online by November 1st and refreeze the cakes, or call Craig directly at 913.526.6708 to process payment now and schedule the cakes to arrive during the holidays (do not order these from the website).
Allow us to share some insight and reasons for the increases....
It was four years ago that we actually lowered our pricing on the cakes by 20% because of your loyal support and supply chain efficiencies (our own rum, custom mix, relationships with local suppliers, etc). We had not increased shipping charges in over 5 years. We increased shipping last year because the big 2 (Fed Ex and UPS) significantly increased our pricing. This year, they are increasing our pricing again by $2.00 per package between now and January...NOT COOL! We really hate to do this, but we have to pass this along. We will offer a bulk shipping rate of $200 for 10 cakes shipped to 1 location (rates would have been $270). Call Craig directly to process the bulk orders. Regarding cardboard - - 3 years ago, we paid $.19 per grease proof cake round. Last year, pricing increased to $.24 per round, and (wait for it) this year, the same cake round is a whopping $.54 each. Eggs, oil, butter, licenses/insurance, e-commerce fees, etc. continue to increase. We are still waiting on our pricing for shipping boxes, but they will likely increase also (so when you order, please reuse them if you can). We did share a well-deserved raise with Marisela. This will be our 15th year working together, and she is INCREDIBLE!
We will update the cake and shipping increases on the website on November 1st, so if you want to order early, please place your order on the website (www.judesrumcakes.com) and just refreeze the cake for the holidays. As you know, the quality will be fine because of our vacuum seal / CO2 and nitrogen gas system. Another option is to call Craig directly 913.526.6708 (do not order off the website) he will process payment by November 1st, and schedule these orders to ship during the holidays.
