Celebrating Permaculture...

Dear Friends of Social Landscapes...

"A massive tree in the forest of humanity has fallen"; Bill Mollison, the co-originator and the father of the Permaculture movement died peacefully at the age of 88 on September 24th.

Permaculture Design is the methodology that we use at Social Landscapes to design and run our enterprise as well as our projects and garden work.

Please find a tribute to Bill here, in huge appreciation for what he has left us with...

News & Events

The dates for our yearly full Permaculture Design Certificate Course - Creating Resilient Communities are set.

A massive thank you to Sophie, who is in the process of writing up stories of previous participants. See the first two posts below or here.
Louise's Story and Experience of the Permaculture Design Course:

“If you apply it to your life, permaculture is a manual for surviving on the planet”
The Winter Garden

The autumn is here and if you're a keen gardener you will be either thinking about next growing season or planting out winter vegetables.

We're running a series of 2-hour winter gardening workshops with Bandstand Beds in Clapham.

Plus a 2-hour workshop on perennial crops and edible landscaping at Glengall Wharf in Peckham on Oct 30th (will be on the webpage within a week).
Nicky's Story and Experience:

"The frameworks for thinking that are part of permaculture helped me gain clarity and feel empowered to begin implementing change in my life."
The Community Kitchen Garden

Join us on Wednesday the 19th of October, along with the Open Orchard, This Is Clapham BID, and the residents of Fenwick Estate on Landor Road, for the first of two community planting events: planting a kitchen garden.

Our team is growing...

We're welcoming Jamie, Sid, Heather and Amy to our team - all 4 have been doing part-time gardening work with us this past month. We're hoping to have the profiles of our team up on the 'about' page of the website in the next couple of week...

In the meantime, please recommend Social Landscapes as a social enterprise offering garden and permaculture design, maintenance and consultancy services.

Following are some pictures from our last Introduction to Permaculture Course at Treadwell. You can find more on facebook.

Tread Well on Earth
“Sitting at our back doorsteps, all we need to live a good life lies about us. Sun, wind, people, buildings, stones, sea, birds and plants surround us. Cooperation with all these things brings harmony, opposition to them brings disaster and chaos.”
