Alumni In Action
Pragya writes for TradeVistas, gets reposted on US Global Trade
Pragya Bhatnagar (India, HKBU MAIJS ’17) recently joins the roster of writers for TradeVistas, an HF-sponsored website that raises awareness of trade’s effect on our daily lives. His first published article is about how India’s tariffs could dent gains from California’s bumper almond crop, and was reposted at US trade website Global Trade. Congratulations, Pragya!

Alumni support leads to new journalism scholars
ACL country chapter leaders Juliet Shwe Gaung (Myanmar, HKBU MAIJS ‘12) and Lorie Cascaro (Philippines, HKBU MAIJS ‘15) played key roles in the recruitment of new journalism scholars  – Za Bawi Thawng from Myanmar and Chad de Guzman from the Philippines. Lorie organized an infosession at CNN Philippines where Chad worked while Juliet took part in the final selection of Za Bawi. Thank you, alumni, for 'Paying it forward'!
Continued learning for Mai & Genin at NUS-HF trade workshop
Mai Nguyen (Vietnam, HKBU MAIJS ‘11),  and Genin Koh (Singapore, NUS MBA ’20) will participate in Managing Cross-Border Trade In An Uncertain World, a workshop designed by HF and the National University of Singapore’s Business School. They will be joined by senior members of national government trade bodies and executives from multinational corporations such as Procter & Gamble, Amazon and Google. The workshop will be held October 7-9 in Singapore.
Alumni Updates
Ben Wong (USA, CUHK MBA ’15) is off to a new adventure as he takes on the role of Assistant General Manager at Eureka Nova Incubation Hub, which offers tailor-made entrepreneurship enrichment programs to support starting entrepreneurs and enterprises. Prior to this, Ben was Head of Online Strategy & Product Development at Global Sources. Congratulations, Ben!
Putro Agus Harnowo (Indonesia, HKBU MAIJS ’19) joins Vantage Asia as Digital Content Editor, where is mainly responsible for the content management system for all its digital law journal publications. Putro worked as Indonesia Export consultant during his internship with the Hinrich Foundation. All the best, Putro!

Olivia Ye (China, HKBU BBA ’19) recently started her internship at Tencent under its Cloud & Smart Industry Group. As Community Marketing Intern, her role includes supporting marketing activities to improve the conversion rate of community users and preparing project data reports to provide background for operational decisions. You are making HF proud, Olivia!
Congratulations to Zain Abbas from Pakistan and Eddie Cai from China –  winners of the Hinrich Global Trade Leader Scholarship for the 2019 Master of Business Administration (MBA) at INSEAD. Scholars are selected based on their potential contribution to the prosperity and sustainability of global trade.
Zain is at the helm of their 30-year old family business that sells wholesale fabrics in Azam Cloth Market with a supply network in 100+ cities across Pakistan. Eddie is co-founder and COO of 21Keg, which helps OEM manufacturers build brands and sell directly to end markets through eCommerce.
