LCS UPDATES | NOVEMBER 11, 2021

As a reminder, asynchronous learning days provide students with the opportunity to log into Google Classroom from home, to complete school work on their own time. Additional information about asynchronous learning assignments will be shared by your child's teachers.

We also recognize that food prices are skyrocketing, making it more difficult to put food on the table each day. Therefore, we will have student meals available for any family who wants them on Monday, November 22nd between the hours of 4:00 - 6:00 PM.

Participating families will receive four meals per student so that your children will have breakfast and lunch provided for these two asynchronous days before the break. Meals will be available for drive-thru pick up from our middle schools.

Please complete the survey through the link below to let us know if your family will be participating, and at which location, so that we can ensure we have enough food for all who would like to pick up meals. Survey responses should be submitted by end of day, Monday, November 15th.

Our staff and students will continue their annual tradition of holding meaningful ceremonies to honor those who fought for our freedom on this special day in Lorain City Schools. Thank you to all who serve, and have served, our country. We are deeply humbled by your sacrifice.

ISSUE 37 FAILED; NOW WHAT?

ISSUE 37 was a 6.8 operating levy which would have generated $4.1 million annually for operating expenses. Since the levy didn't pass, we are projecting a $13 million budget deficit for summer 2023, which demands that we respond in a manner consistent with what we said we’d do: work together to find ways to be more efficient with the funding that is available to us.

HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT MOVING FORWARD

The Titan Family Action Member (FAM) committee support students, families and the Lorain community by fostering engagement and participation in our schools. FAM is working with our schools to put on their first district-wide event full of holiday traditions, celebrations and fun for all ages to enjoy. If you attended the TitanUp! Back to School event at Black River Landings this past summer, then you know what to expect: FREE FOOD, MUSIC and FUN on a grand scale.

Winter Wonderland will be held at LORAIN HIGH SCHOOL on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9th from 5:00 - 9:00PM. More details coming soon!
