THIS JUST IN: Academic Improvement Plan Approved by ODE

I want to thank our students, staff, families and community for believing in our strategic plan, and for your partnership and collaboration that is making this pathway out from HB70 possible for our school district.

I also want to thank our Board of Education for their steady leadership, and perhaps most importantly, their patience. A special shout to legislators Nathan Manning, Gayle Manning and Joe Miller for bringing Andrew Brenner up to Lorain to show the Senate what a special thing we have here in Lorain City Schools, and that we have the right people in place to move forward, together. This is a great day for Lorain.

A public version of the Academic Improvement Plan will be shared soon on the website, social media and in print. Next steps for the improvement process are detailed below.

The Lorain City School District is expanding its fine arts programming, and we need your input! Please take a few minutes to complete this very brief survey about what you would be interested in seeing for your child or children involved in moving forward. Survey closes Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

Increased enrollment in the Lorain City Schools is a major contributing factor to an improved five-year forecast submitted to the state on November 30th. Other adjustments which improved the forecast include increases from the state’s school funding formula, and cost-savings resulting from efficiencies put in place in addition to an overall conscious effort to reduce spending in anticipation of the previously forecasted $13 million deficit.

LORAIN HIGH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTS THIRTEEN NEW MEMBERS

The Lorain High School National Honor Society honored twenty-four (24) new and returning members as they recognized the school's highest-achieving students during their induction ceremony on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Watch the full ceremony live on TV20 at this link.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION NEWS

The Lorain Schools Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Association Award and Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on June 26, 2022.
