Hey y'all! I hope you are having a creative day.

In preparation for the "in studio" workshops, which will be announced soon, Ashley and I have converted the back office into storage space and as such relocated the Sewspire Inspiration Wall to the main studio so that I can see your beautiful cards and notes while I work. If you would like to add to the design and receive a note in return you will find the studio address at the bottom of this email.

My first ever master class (AMC) is a little over halfway filled and I am really looking forward to getting to know those of you who have registered and can hardly wait to see your finished masterpieces in Week 8. I can tell by your enthusiasm this is going to be a fabulous group! If you are interested in independent design, I hope you will give the Master Class some thought and please let me know if you have any questions.

On Saturday, June 30th, I have the pleasure of teaching a patchwork bag making class at the Cabin Brand Quilt Guild and am keeping busy making those final preparations. Our Yoga Bag prototype is coming along beautifully and the tutorial will be available Sunday, July 1st. Who's excited? I am! I am!

Wow! Just typing July 1st makes me cringe. The summer is flying by and it is hard for me to imagine working alone again as Ashley will be packing up and heading to grad school soon. Sadness.

As part of the transition we have decided to discontinue the live stream on Tuesday's at 10 a.m. and will be replacing that with live chats on the tutorials instead. This is a new feature that YouTube just announced and will allow me to manage the chats by myself whereas the live stream requires two people.

You'll find the current tutorial schedule below as well as more details about AMC. Until next time, the creative genius in me will be celebrating the creative genius in you.

Here is this week's live stream in case you missed it! This will be "our" last live stream for the summer; but, we will be integrating "live" chats into future tutorials and studio updates.
AMC is an exclusive online 8-week design course that will teach you how to develop an "engineer mindset" that will allow you to visualize, design and produce bags and small accessories with ease.

The first week of the series will begin July 9, 2018 and the series will end the week of August 31, 2018. Space is limited to nine students per class to ensure an intimate and insightful experience for all participants.

Registration will close on July 2, 2018 and possibly sooner if we sell out. There are still spots available; but, Monday and Wednesday are almost full. To register click here and for more information about the 8-week design course, please watch last week's YouTube studio update here

Unanswered questions from the live stream
Question #1: Wanda asks, where do you find most of your inspiration?

Answer: Because I enjoy making bags, I am always admiring other woman's bags and making notes or taking photos when I am out and about. I love to go into bag shops such as Charming Charlie's and will often leave with inspiration for my next design.

Question #2: Kelly asks, I am currently trying to sew a minky blanket and getting very frustrated with it. Have you ever worked with minky and if so, what is the trick?

Answer: Position your cut minky on top of a layer of quilt batting and then position your backing fabric face down on the minky. Pin, pin, pin. Stitch all the way around the edges, leaving 6 to 8" to turn, turn, press on back side (not minky side) and top stitch all the way around to close the turn hole.

Please submit your questions to and we will do our best to answer those on the next studio update or subsequent newsletter.
