Dreams Soar Welcomes New Board Members

We are thrilled to welcome
Christa Dhimo and Scott Moore
to our Board of Directors.

Christa Dhimo has 25 years of experience in setting and executing global growth and performance strategies, with the last 10 years in senior leadership and executive positions. She is the founder and lead consultant for the Impono Consulting firm, whose mission is to support the success of start-ups, non-profits and small businesses with her and her community’s expert hand-on experience right beside them. Christa enjoys volunteering and is an active Women-in-STEM and Female Founder advocate.

Scott Moore is a Leadership Advisor and Personal Life Coach at Moore Life Leadership. He has a passion for people, and his work in coaching allows him to empower others to solve their own problems and to create a better version of themselves. Scott is passionate about Values Based Leadership and he gives presentations to national conventions, corporate leadership teams, and non-profit groups. Scott is an Air Force veteran, served as the Aviation Department Manager for Luck Companies and is a former member of the Board of Directors of NBAA.

Shaesta Speaks at STEM Education Conferences in Cleveland & Chicago

In continuing her outreach program promoting STEM education to both teachers and students, Shaesta spoke in April at two STEM-focused conferences in Chicago, the CONSEF/STEM EXPO in Cleveland and STEMCON in Chicago.

STEMCON is an annual event for STEM educators and administrators from all around the nation to share their best practices. Over 600 teachers were in attendance. Shaesta was the keynote speaker at this year’s event and also led a breakout session to discuss the importance of diversity in STEM.It is one of the few national conferences open to all K-12 STEM educators and professionals to connect, collaborate and share best practices. Every year STEMCON updates its standards, curriculum and tracks to reflect new trends including robotics, social media in the classroom, forward-thinking technology (drones, AI) and digital literacy. _______________________________________________________________
The CONSEF/STEM EXPO for students in the 5th -12th grade aims to increase public awareness in science, math and engineering. CONSEF invites students from an array of educational backgrounds from public to private, charter, and home schools to attend and compete in the Concept Science & Engineering Fair and show their demonstrations at STEM Exposition.

Microsoft DigiGirlz Theme is Women in Aviation

In March, Microsoft featured “women in aviation” as the theme for their DigiGirlz program all across the country.

The DigiGirlz Workshops include inspiring presentations from local, women trailblazers in the industry with an in-depth Q&A session. Girls then get hands-on coding training with the Hour of Code™ session. which teaches coding fundamentals.

Dreams Soar’s Outreach Lead, Jill Meyers, was the guest speaker at Microsoft’s DigiGirlz event in San Diego, where she talked about her own experiences learning to fly as a teenager, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and then working as an Aerospace Engineer. She also talked to the girls and their parents about organizations that provide opportunities and mentoring to young girls, such as Women in Aviation International and Dreams Soar. Shaesta visits JSSI Headquarters

Shaesta visited the Chicago headquarters office of Jet Support Services, Inc (JSSI), the company that provided aircraft maintenance support for the Bonanza during our Global Flight for STEM.

Our own Lou Seno is a co-founder of JSSI and currently serves as Chairman Emeritus and Special Advisor.

Shaesta did a presentation to the employees at the Chicago HQ office, and JSSI also broadcast the event live to their remote employees all around the world. George Kleros, JSSI’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Fleet Management and Fleet Support, was our key focal point during the global flight, and he and Lou both attended this event and added their own perspective and stories to Shaesta’s presentation!

Congratulations to our Team Members!

Michael Wildes recently obtained his CFI and CFII and was hired by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) as a flight instructor!

And leaving her job as a CFI at ERAU is Jessica Ortega, who has been hired by Republic Airlines and will be joining them in June to fly the Embraer 175 aircraft. We are proud of Michael and Jessica for these admirable achievements!

Team member Linda Hall is currently interning in the Operations Division for NBAA in Washington D.C. for her spring semester. This great opportunity is giving Linda experience and knowledge for her future in the aviation industry.
