Mentoring Future Leaders At ICAP's NGAP Global Summit

Dreams Soar was a big part of this week’s International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Global Summit in Montréal, Canada. Shaesta Waiz and Jill Meyers, Advisory Council member and Outreach Coordinator, attended to represent Dreams Soar Inc. In addition, Advisory Council member Veronica Carpio attended the summit representing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Dreams Soar was honored to be guests of ICAO at the Summit as Shaesta addressed the international audience at the main session, sharing the success of the global flight. Among the speakers at NGAP was ICAO's Secretary General Dr. Fang Liu, who joined Shaesta in speaking to a group of young students at the UNESCO “Think Pink Hardhat” Workshop. These unique UNESCO workshops are conducted globally and aim to encourage more young women to consider STEM careers, especially engineering. Their goal is to alleviate any preconceptions young girls may have towards these careers, for instance, images of men in hard hats.
In addition to the Global Summit presentations, there were other exciting activities focused on the next generation, which our team was involved in during the week. Shaesta and Jill were invited to serve as mentors in the NGAP Speed Mentoring program; Shaesta spoke to mentees about becoming a professional pilot, and Jill provided coaching on aeronautical engineering and project management. To conclude the NGAP Summit, Shaesta shared a brief presentation at a reception hosted by Capt. Aysha Al Hamili, Dreams Soar Advisory Council member, and the UAE Delegation team, thanking all of the members of the ICAO Council for their ongoing support to Dreams Soar. Everyone at Dreams Soar extends a big thank you to our dear friends at ICAO, especially Capt. Aysha, for their strong participation.

Continued Representation in Washington, D.C., Elevating Presence and Mission

Ladies of Women in Aviation International, participating in events during efforts in Washington, D.C.

The presence of Dreams Soar spread across the Nation’s Capital November 29 and 30 where meetings were held with FAA’s Chief Learning Officer, Melissa King, as we look to participate in transformative projects advancing STEM and aviation, for the future of this industry. Board Chair, Lyndse Costabile, represented for us during these recent efforts in D.C. The trip’s main event was the National Aeronautic Association’s (NAA) Fall Awards Dinner, recognizing several distinguished recipients who went above and beyond the call of duty in their aviation role, public service flight activity or military duties.
We continue projecting our mission across sectors to deliver STEM and aviation outreach globally. The Cirlot Agency, founded by Liza Cirlot Looser, has made a commitment to continue supporting our global media/public relations needs. Looking ahead, collaborating with like-minded organizations facilitating STEM projects, programs and education, Dreams Soar met with Liftoff Learning, a nonprofit organization providing students, educators, and local communities with the tools and resources to pursue STEM careers through mentorship and educational enrichment programs through the foundation concepts of aviation.

'STEMMING' Partnerships To Inspire Future Generations
|

funding our future leaders has a large impact in our communities. The Department of Education has awarded a multi-year grant for low-to-moderate-income and first-generation college students at four New Hampshire high schools. This partnership stems a bridge between high schools and Keene State College to mentor high school students through math and science.
This grant will provide support for summer camps, tutoring help and hands on training for students who participate. According to the director of Keene State's TRIO program, this program is designed to cater to disadvantaged students.
