Work to transform Bristol’s Temple Meads station gets underway
The transformation of Bristol Temple Meads station has moved a step closer with the appointment of a multi-disciplinary consultancy team to develop a masterplan for the station and the wider Temple Quarter. Following a competitive tendering process, a consortium led by Mott MacDonald was selected to take forward the project. The work was commissioned by Bristol City Council in partnership with the West of England Combined Authority, Network Rail and Homes England, and aims to accelerate the regeneration of the Temple Quarter district. More information is available on our website.
#TempleQuarterStory photo competition
Get your mobile at the ready: a new 'selfie wall' has been unveiled on Cattle Market Road. The temporary exhibit aims to brighten up the derelict sorting office site and breathe new life into the area while building work is underway, ahead of the construction of the University of Bristol's new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus. Over the next month, people who take a photo with the wall and share it on social media using the hastag #TempleQuarterStory could be in with a chance of winning a fantastic prize from a local business. Find out more about the competition at www.bristoltemplequarter.com/story.

Council apologises for extended Temple Circus roadworks
Major works to improve the Temple Circus junction have been extended due to unforeseen problems on the site. The scheme is now due to be completed in autumn 2019 following a series of unexpected discoveries under the road, all requiring major change to the programme. The installation of heat networks have also added an extra layer of complexity to the project, making progress slower than expected. Find out more on our website.

Outline planning permission for Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus
On 11 July, Bristol City Council granted outline planning permission for the University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus. The outline planning permission covers the proposed density and scale of the buildings, as well as access to the site, rather than specific details about the appearance and layout of the new campus. These details will be submitted at a later stage in the planning process. Find out more about the decision and the plans on the Temple Quarter website.
Become a Fostering Friendly Employer and help support Bristol's looked after children
Bristol’s foster carers play a vital role in supporting Bristol’s most vulnerable children and young people - becoming a Fostering Friendly employer could help make a difference to their lives. There isn’t a specific list of requirements you need to meet in order to receive the accreditation: all you need to do is consider the needs of foster carers already within your organisation or who may become foster carers in the future. If you would like to know more about the scheme and how to apply visit the Fostering Network's website or email saffron.smolka@bristol.gov.uk.
