NOVEMBER NEWS
This month marks an important step in the Bristol Arena project: five contractors have been shortlisted to build the venue. We have also scheduled two engagement sessions for the public to find out about what is contained in the two planning applications, due to be submitted at the end of this month.

Continuing our series looking at key projects within the Zone, this month we took a closer look at heat networks. We also got to know energy company OVO Energy, who have been based in the Zone for three years.

Five contractors shortlisted to build the Bristol Arena
The Bristol Arena is one step closer after a bidders' day for contractors interested in building the venue. Five contractors have been shortlisted for the job: BAM Construction Ltd, Bouygues UK, Sir Robert McAlpine, Laing O'Rourke and Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd, and the preferred bidder will be announced in February 2016.

Heat Networks: building cutting edge infrastructure to support our cityDistrict heating pipes on the underside of Arena Island bridge
This month we take a closer look at the heat networks that Bristol City Council are developing across the city. The networks will provide companies in the Zone with a more cost-effective, lower carbon energy source, ultimately reducing carbon emissions by around 1,300 tonnes per year.

Events
Pathways to Professions: Professional and Financial Services, 24th November
An event from the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, aiming to inform career advisors and teachers of the potential careers and progression routes emerging through the Professional & Financial Services sector, one of the key sectors for the Zone. More information is available online.

Bristol Arena information sessions: 8th and 10th December
The planning applications for the Bristol Arena and surrounding Arena Island will be submitted at the end of this month. We will be holding two information sessions, which will include a presentation of the proposals submitted and what has changed following the pre-application consultation. There will also be an opportunity to ask the project team questions. One session will be at Engine Shed on 8th December, and the other in the Totterdown Baptist Church on 10th December. Full details of the sessions are available online
 
City of Bristol College presents 'Celebrating Colour in Winter', Engine Shed
The latest exhibition at the Engine Shed is curated by City of Bristol College, and represents the starkness of winter through a set of pale and colourless objects. These will be transformed by students over an eight week period.
