 RESOURCES FOR OUTDOOR CHURCH

The worldwide Anglican communion has what is known as the Five Marks of Mission, as a summary of how it sees its role in the world and the role of all those who are members of its churches. Church of England schools may find it useful to think through the Marks of Mission and use them as one of the ways to structure their own call to be a ‘distinctive’ part of the English national education system. The Marks of Mission may be summarized for schools using five words beginning with ‘T’: Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform, Treasure.

READINGS PRAYERS ACTIVITIES FOR HOLY WEEK

This is how to make space: If you have done wrong, tell God you are sorry. Sweep your heart clean and start fresh. Be kind to all people, not just the ones who like you. Open your heart wide If someone hurts you ask God to help you forgive. Do not store up angry thoughts. Let them go. Make space inside for better things. Share so that everyone has enough. If you have two coats give one to someone who has none. Why clutter up your life with more than you can use? Make space for what really matters. (p. 14 & 15)

WE WONDER is a short reflective podcast, designed to offer 10 – 15 minutes of wondering about a scripture passage and thinking how it might help us come close to God. It’s aimed at age 8+ but it could be a useful addition to a bedtime routine for families. Ann Casson’s research found that many children long for ‘thinking space’.

LATIN LINK is a free resource suitable for children, young people and families – both online and in-person. It is designed to take groups beyond the current restrictions, to reach the world as part of God’s mission.  It can be used at any time of year but could be useful for Easter with its theme, ‘Stories of Hope’.

UNDER-FIVES KEY TO SIGNIFICANT CHURCH GROWTH

TALKING TODDLERS new research shows that young families with children under five could be a vital element for church growth. The Talking Toddlers report shows that 74% of all parents with children under the age of five attended a church-run activity in the previous year. This new research was commissioned by HOPE Together, the Church of England, and the Evangelical Alliance to highlight the potential for sustained church growth if the church nurtures the faith of under-fives and their parents. Download a summary of the research here.

TKC - FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
Offers an 11-part video series containing worship songs, games, prayer and Bible stories produced for primary school-aged children. The hope is that it will be a resource for households, churches, family services, schools and assemblies. The videos include contributions from Bear Grylls, Gemma Hunt, ++Justin and Pastor Agu. The family prayer adventure map has prayers and games using augmented reality in the 11 episodes. A cheeky pandas prayer book is available for churches to give away. The episodes will start being released from the 11th April, on Sunday afternoon at 4pm. via the TKC facebook page.

GENERATION: The Centre for the Study of Youth, Children and Families (YCF) Mission and Ministry aims to provide a space for research and conversations on evangelical approaches to ministry and mission among YCF, including a focus on how children, youth and families are integrated into the life of the church.
Generation will host termly forums aimed at practitioners and academics seeking to explore the theology of YCF ministry. As such, Generation aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice in YCF ministry and grapple with the theological issues it raises.
Generation's inaugural forum will take place on 14 June (9:15am-12:45) with the title Why do we do what we do? Reflecting theologically on youth, children and families’ mission and ministry.
