IDEAS AND LINKS TO SUPPORT YOUR
CHILDREN'S AND FAMILY MINISTRY AT HOME
DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS.

Many thanks to all of you from across our Diocese and also from our wider Anglican Children's Work Networks who have been sending in great ideas and suggestions to continue to provide spiritual support and nurture in the home during the Covid-19 crisis. I believe children's leaders are the most creative people in the Church and I hope the links below will help in your vital ministry with our little ones as we continue to pray not only for family, friends, schools and churches in our own Diocese but across our world.

JESUS SELF-ISOLATES

During my ordination training I was given a copy of the painting by  Ivan Kramskoy titled Christ in the Wilderness (1872). I was directed to a very helpful reflection this week on Jesus in self-isolation that reminded me of that painting.  'Close to the start of the epic Jesus story, he goes into self-isolation for six weeks. It wasn’t because he was infected with a virus or in some kind of high risk group, it was all part of the divine plan to prepare him for what was coming. Jesus is stripped of everything associated with comfortable human existence, no shelter, no food and no human interaction. But more significant than what is happening on the stage is the spiritually charged backcloth to this Jesus drama....Lent resonates strongly with the wilderness experience that Jesus endured. Actually we are coming to the final couple weeks of that period for 2020. It is interesting that so many people around the world are currently self-isolating in their homes, although not with the same levels of discomfort that Jesus went through in the wilderness.'

Hubs meetings will restart as soon as we have permission for gatherings after the Covid-19 Crisis
