The Church of England Christmas Campaign 2020

This Christmas the Church will need, in the words of St Paul in Romans 12.15, to ‘Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep’. We will aim to celebrate where we can together in one place – but also embrace a wider community that wants to join in the celebration but may not be physically able – or emotionally ready – to do so. We hope that Comfort and Joy will enable us to build a campaign that both enables us to reconnect with the rich and joyous traditions of the past and to offer God’s consoling love in the present.

Hold a Christingle service at home with a little help and ideas from the Children's Society:

We know the Coronavirus pandemic may affect how you hold your Christingle celebration this year. But don't fret. You can choose to hold an online Christingle instead. As long as the candles are lit and the light shines bright, the message of Christ will continue to glow.
Rhema Theatre Company have created a series of short films telling the Christmas story which would be great for school Collective Worship or RE. There’s a 20% discount for schools which subscribe before 16th November (which gives them access to all of the films, not just the Christmas ones).

The Go Team have collated these ideas with the current COVID-19 restrictions in mind and with an accent on things you can do as a household. Many of the ideas can be adapted to your context and the age and ability of those involved. At this time it may be more about providing ideas and resources that your scattered community can join in with, rather than gathering them together in one place. This resource aims to provide you with creative ideas that can be used in the lead up to Christmas, at home and in the local community, putting the story of Jesus’ birth at the centre of our countdown and celebrations.
