From Mary Hawes our National Adviser:
The fifth Mark of Mission is: To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth. The Churches Count on Nature Week (June 5-13) is part of Caring for God’s Acre and churches might want to consider how they could involve their families, children & teens in this (in a Covid safe way, of course).
Re-engaging with families: Godparents' Sunday, The God Family Picnic and Messy Church Goes Wild Wednesday 12th May, 3-4pm Sandra Millar, Mary Hawes and Lucy Moore (Messy Church) look forward to a time when we can meet with families, share a picnic and start conversations about the amazing journey of faith.Find out more about this year’s Godparents’ Sunday – July 11th – and how you can use this time to re-engage with families.

speaks about the effect of Covid on Children and the Church

Who are the Occasional Belongers?
Dr Ann Casson, Senior Research Fellow at Canterbury Christ Church University, draws upon key findings from the Faith in the Nexus report on belonging and connection. The report found that where a strong, active relationship between church and school was perceived, then there was more evidence of faith-related activities at home. Dr Casson considers: • The different ways in which people belong to church. • The value individuals place on this connection with church. • Different in kind, not strength of belonging. • The importance of recognising where people are and acknowledging that perhaps for many that is where they want to stay.
