FORUM UPDATE
Jan 2018

Hi Folks !

Firstly we hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year.  We wish you all the best for 2018.  So what’s new…….??

Green Belt Site Allocations – Upshot Lane Fields
It’s now over 9 months since the Martyrs Lane consultation and we still have no word from Woking Borough Council on the final Green Belt site allocations.  So, despite our objections there is still a very real danger that 450 houses could be built in the Upshot Lane fields.

However, there may be some changes afoot.

A press Release in December, by the new Leader of the Council, Cllr Bittleston, sought to explain the delays and pleads more time for Council Officers to do a proper job of evaluating feedback.

In addition, we know the new Leader of the Council believes the pain of Green Belt site allocations should be spread across the Borough rather than concentrated in the east of the Borough.

New government housing density tests, and further rules on the use of Green Belt land, will be incorporated in The National Planning Policy Framework during March, we hear.

So, we think WBC is giving very careful thought to objections by the Forum and others.  Iit may be that support is growing for the view that land selection processes should observe the conclusions of WBC’s consultants more closely.

In conclusion, it’s thought that final Green Belt site allocation proposals are unlikely before June of this year and these would lead to the final Regulation 19 consultation in Autumn 2018.

Fund Raising
The fight, therefore, continues and we will need to work hard making our views known.  Fund raising will still be necessary so how about joining the 200 Club – support us regularly and enter the cash draw each month when 51% of monthly contributions are paid out in prize money.  Join today, we need your support now and in the future.

Forum AGM – November 2017
This was a great success and Stephen Conisbee’s talk was very well received.  The Committee has been largely returned unchanged for a further year but we do need a secretary to keep us in order so if you’re interested please contact us on info@pyrfordforum.org .

 Heritage
We’ve been lucky enough to be given a lot of research materials relating to land ownership going back several centuries.  We would like to augment this with photographs of how things were and build a heritage archive.  So, if any of you any interesting photos or articles please let us know at info@pyrfordforum.org .  We are also working on a video project to record local views and memories of the area so keep an eye out for further announcements.
