Resources for Buying from Local Farm & Food Businesses

While farmers' markets and many local food stores remain open, there are also a variety of resources to help you connect directly with local farms, including options for home delivery and pre-orders.

Broome County Regional Farmers Market Vendor Directory - a resource if you are interested in supporting local agriculture by purchasing goods from the Broome County Regional Farmers Market vendors with minimal contact.

Farms Serving Tompkins County: 2020 Directory - a resource if you are interested in purchasing local food from farms serving Tompkins County.

Center for Agricultural Development and Entrepreneurship Farmer Directory - this resource can help connect you to local farms offering their products for sale in the Catskills region.

FaHN's Food and Farm Business Directory - here is a directory of food businesses serving the local community during the COVID-19 crisis. The goal of this platform is to connect businesses offering food and ingredients to community members who need it. Food businesses who are interested in offering food to consumers, please sign up here.

Buy Local Food NY - this resource will help support Chemung, Cortland, Schuyler, Tioga, and Tompkins county residents in buying local food and supporting local farms.

Pure Catskills - if you are a local of the Catskills region, you can find assistance for buying from local farms with this resource.

We encourage you to support local and regional food producers in this time. Family farmers and food producers are under strain. There are actions that Congress and USDA can take now to unlock already-appropriated funding to support them. Harvard Law School's Food Law and Policy Clinic and the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition have an overview of these actions here. General Food Resources

COVID-19 Grocery Store Service Inventory - this resource includes information on grocery stores in Broome, Tioga, Delaware, Chenango, and Otsego counties regarding hours of operation, hours for vulnerable populations, instructions for curbside pickup and delivery, and other COVID-19 updates.

2-1-1 is an excellent resource for a variety of needs and community resources, including food assistance. Information is available online or by calling 211.

SNAP/WIC - if you qualify, food assistance is available from your local Department of Social Services. Here is a link to check your eligibility and/or apply online.

Food Bank of the Southern Tier - Find Food Tool (Includes Broome, Chemung, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties) - find food access sites near you.

Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York Find Food - (Includes Otsego and Delaware Counties)

Food Bank of Central New York - (Includes Chenango and Cortland Counties)

Delaware Opportunities - has compiled many COVID-19 resources, including resources on finding food on their website.

Catholic Charities - provides disaster services, home health services, residential services, mental health services, youth, family, and community services, and food pantries. There are Catholic Charities serving Broome, Delaware-Otsego-Schoharie, Tompkins-Tioga, Chenango, Cortland, and Chemung & Schuyler. Reach out to your local Catholic Charities for more specific information.

Broome-Tioga BOCES School Meal Pick Up - for school aged children. Contact Rock on Cafe School Nutrition Services for more information, including lunch pick up schedule. Visit their Facebook page here for updated schedule information. Outside of Broome and Tioga schools, free meals for students are available daily throughout the region. Please contact your school district or 2-1-1 for the most up to date information.

Office for Aging & Meals on Wheels- for meal delivery information and other services such grocery shopping, contact your county's Office for Aging and Meals on Wheels program. Broome County is linked; please contact your local county offices for more county-specific information.
