The rainy season has been long this year, hasn’t it? I think it is not so bad. Even though I sometimes get wet on my way to and from work, I am happy that it is not so hot. As the rainy season ends, it will become more hot and humid. You can use this phrase to describe the weather:
“It is so hot and humid!” or “This humidity is killing me!”.
As you may already know, I have been looking for another teacher to help me teach one or two days a week. Starting next week, a new teacher will come with me to class to give some trial lessons. It has not been decided yet which classes the new teacher will teach. Please don’t be shy. This will be a chance for you to practice your English with someone new! I will also be there to watch closely and judge if the new teacher is good or not. After the lesson, I will hand out questionnaires. I want to ask you if you think she is good or not. If the students in the class complain and think that this will not be a good teacher, then I won't hire her. The student’s opinion is important to me. I’m sorry that last time, I didn’t do such a good job in hiring a new teacher (except for Ms. Odie; she’s a great teacher!). This time I want to consider more your opinion in hiring a good teacher. I love teaching all my students, but please understand that I need some time to do marketing to gather new students as well as find a new classroom, etc. If you know of any good teachers, please recommend them to me.
In might be a good idea if you prepare some questions to ask the new teacher in case you see her. よろしくお願いします。
Recently, I am sad to say that I have had to cancel my Monday and Wednesday morning classes. The reason is because I am unable to rent the classroom during that time. Non-profit and some other groups have special privilege and are able to reserve a room before I am able to. Even though I try to make a reservation as soon as possible, the rooms have already been reserved by someone else. For now, I have been able to reserve the classroom till next May 2020.
So you don’t have to worry about any more classes being cancelled before then. Most of the students in the morning classes will be able to change to other classes. I am happy about that. I will update the schedule on the flier and homepage after the classes have changed. Here is how it will change:
1. Y and S class (Monday) will close 8/26
2. W class will close and students will move to C class 9/25
3. X class will close 9/25, and the students will move to a new 入門 Q class on Thursday morning at 9:15am.
* Usually, I try to keep the max number of students for conversation classes to 5, but because of this, some classes may have 6 or 7 students. Please understand.
I don’t like having this kind of situation. I apologize for your inconvenience. That’s why I decided to move my classroom to a different place. I want to have a classroom that I can use every week without so many holidays in the schedule. Also, this place is very expensive for me to rent. I hope to find a place very near to the station.
On July 4th, we had a HUGE party to celebrate Independence Day. Thanks to the help of many of my students, it turned out to be a FABULOUS party. There was a magic show, games, prizes, and a mini-quiz about American history. My favorite part was when Mr. Trump visited the party. Everyone seemed so happy to see him. Did you know that his middle name is JOHN??? What a coincidence!
Thank-you everyone for coming and supporting MIAMI.
