"Achieving for today...Preparing for tomorrow"
A Message from your Principal
Aloha MSOS Parents,

Mother Theresa, now known as Saint Theresa, once said "I can do things you cannot.  You can do things I cannot.  Together, we can do great things".

Together, we are doing great things!  As we enter into our third week of second quarter, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincerest appreciation to all of our MSOS families who have been volunteering their time and expertise in so many ways.

Our library upgrades are coming along beautifully, thanks to our dedicated Librarian, Mrs. Garcia-Wang and volunteers Marilyn Boock and Claudia Medan-Pass.  We are slowly transitioning our library into a Learning Commons Center and Maker's Space that will provide our students with broader collaborative, innovative, and communication opportunities.  We were recently blessed with a very generous donation from Inspiration Furniture!  Although our library is still a work in progress, I welcome you to come check out our beautiful new learning spaces!

Last week, you may have noticed a few substitute teachers on campus. Seven of our teachers attended the Schools of the Future Conference sponsored by Hawaii Association of Independent Schools.  The annual conference provides educators with tools and practical advice about how to improve and transform our existing  teaching practices to best meet the needs of today's learners.  A special mahalo to the Augustine Foundation for their financial support.

We will be wrapping up our Terra Nova Testing this week. Results will be sent home with second quarter student report cards.  Please be advised that the Terra Nova Standardized Test provides a snapshot picture of your child's  progress at just one point in time.  No test, however extensive, can measure a person’s total ability or achievement, or pinpoint it exactly.

There are several very exciting upcoming events and service projects that we welcome you to participate in including our Halloween Festivities, All Saints Day Parade, Annual Book Fair, Thanksgiving Food Drive, and traditional Giving Tree. Meanwhile, and as always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions that you may have.

Blessings to you and your families!
