Congrats to the Special K! crew on an awesome show!

Word to the wise

Good morning, Kellogg! Hope you enjoyed the ample sunshine this weekend. There was a lot of activity in Evanston from the bands' reunion concert to opening day of the farmer's market (whatever your priorities might be). And congratulations to those of you who survived what looked like an extremely wet Derby.

It's Africa Business Club week and each day we'll be sharing delightful African proverbs to inspire you. Today's felt particularly relevant with the temperatures finally getting hot this weekend:

If you think you are too small to make a difference, you haven't spent a night with a mosquito.

Light and breezy

It's a bit cooler today --  high of 60°F (16°C) -- which means it's the perfect sunny and crisp running weather. Looking for new sights on your route? Head north along the lake for a change and you can see the Northshore's famous Baha'i Temple or Gilson Beach (~4 miles roundtrip).

Going to the Glub and we're...

  • A welcome introduction to WellBe. Hear from KSM alum Adrienne Nolan Smith about her start-up WellBe, a healthcare media company. Learn about how she returned to the idea she formerly shelved while in school (12:15 p.m., 2130; waitlist only).
  • Calling all y'all 2nd years to reflect. Missed the opportunity to take one of Professor Harry Kraemer's classes? Then come to his nota bene on values based leadership (5:15 p.m., White Auditorium).
  • Tales from Wakanda... Check out Africa Business Club's Hear My Story about living and working in Africa. For those that don't know what Wakanda is... this event is for you (5:15 p.m., 2130).

Nice to meat you, meat @ Zingerman's Deli in Ann Arbor

Memorial Day Weekend

Did the hot weather inspire you to think about your plans for summer's kick-off weekend? Then check out our suggestions for easy weekend trips from Chicago. While, yes, everything is a two hour flight from here, there are also some Midwestern gems you can easily reach by car.

  • Milwaukee. You can catch a short one-hour train to Milwaukee out of the Glenview Station (which is a quick 15 minute Uber away). Upon arrival, head straight to Lakefront Brewing for a tour and drinks. Pairing beer with cheese curds in Wisconsin is a must. There's also the Milwaukee Art Museum if you're feeling cultural.
  • Ann Arbor. Curious about life at Ross or life generally in a small town? Or both? A four hour drive will get you to Ann Arbor, where you can see if Zingerman's Deli lives up to the Strat 431 hype. Besides seeing the U Mich campus, there are a few botanical gardens to meander through.
  • Nashville. While not the shortest drive, you will be rewarded with some of the best music in the country and delicious eats. We recommend you get tickets in advance to the Listening Room and check out the Pancake Pantry, a Vandy favorite, for breakfast. If you're looking for something more of the Bachelorette-type-variety, Pedal Taverns never disappoints.
