Welcome to the Working Week.

We hope you had a wonderful weekend however you spent it. Whether you made all of your Instagram followers jealous at Coachella (or, as we like to think of it, Beychella), enjoyed a fiesta with your section, or donned your finest 90s gear, it looked like the start of the quarter did not slow any of you down.

Though we are still waiting for these April (snow) showers to subside, there is a lot going on this week to enjoy like the promise of your tax return, the Kellogg vs Booth Hockey game, and programming for Start-Up Week. See you on the other side.

Batten down the hatches.

We are still stuck with some chilly temps today and pretty strong winds so brace yourselves accordingly. The high today will hit 35°F (2°C) and a low of 27°F (-3°C).

Taxes 101

If you feel a little overwhelmed by the fact that tax day is TOMORROW (Tuesday, April 17th) you are not alone. Normally it falls on the 15th, but calendars be crazy. Here are a few FAQs to help with your burning questions:

  • Get that MBA money. If you write off your tuition you can get quite a bit of money. This would be a good year to look into the write-off as tax codes continue to change.
    • Additionally, be sure to include expenses tied to school like your course packs, computer, and whatever else helps you live your best Kellogg life.
    • You can also go back and adjust last year's tax return (that's you second years).
  • You must be this tall to ride the ride. Some students’ pre-MBA experience may disqualify you from this write-off so good to check with your accountant or tax professional.
  • If you need a bit more time...You can always file an extension but don't forget, the deadline is Tuesday as well. Here are all the details you need to know.
