A big shoutout to GIM Social Impact on rocking the Kellogg spell-out in Tanzania's stunning Ngorongoro Crater

Don't worry - it's almost the weekend

Congratulations on surviving a full day of make-up classes. Remember when we all used to put in a full work day on a Wednesday (or, on any day of the week, for that matter)? Yeah, neither do we.

In today's big news - get those well-practiced typing skills ready: Bollywood Bash tickets go on sale at 5 PM today! Don't say you've "always wanted to go to an Indian wedding," and then miss this extravaganza - more event details below!

Thank you, Mother Nature...

...for listening to us incessantly whine about the weather in every passing conversation. Today's high is 66°F (19°C)! Enjoy the warm spell this week before we're plunged back into the 40's next week (whyyy?!).

Thursday tidbits

  • The secret sauce. The Business Leadership Club is hosting author and TED-talk speaker Adam Galinsky today. If you want to hear Adam's secrets of great leadership, while enjoying a free lunch, this event is for you (12:15 p.m.; 1110; waitlist only).
  • That was...awkward? This interactive workshop on How to Be an Ally is for every one of us who has encountered bias in real-life scenarios, but hasn't known how to act. Come learn the tactical skills needed to communicate like an Ally (12:15 p.m.; 1430).
  • Dinner and a movie. The Net Impact Club is screening the documentary Girl Rising tonight. Grab some dinner, watch the movie, be inspired, and engage in a thought-provoking discussion with your friends. What's not to like? (5:15 p.m.; L110)

Tickets will sell out quickly so make sure you secure a front-row seat to all the madness, culture, and fun! Sales go live at 5 PM today

Kellogg vs. Booth: Hockey Edition

Which business school boasts the best hockey team (in the Chicagoland area)? Kellogg's Hockey Club plans to give Booth a run for its money on April 19th, and needs our support to defend the trophy after last year's victory! Sign up here.

Here are the deets:

  • When: Thursday, April 19th - puck drops at 8:30 PM
  • Where: Johnny’s IceHouse East (1350 W. Madison Street, Chicago)
  • Why: Fully-stocked arena bar, fun intermission fan events, school pride, and (hopefully) the thrill of victory!
  • Price: FREE! Doesn't get any better.
  • Transportation: Buses will leave McManus at 7:15 PM. Buy your ticket ($5) and book your spot here! After the event, most buses will proceed to the joint afterparty with Booth (held at Original Mother's), with one bus returning directly to Evanston.
Some winning smiles after crushing this year's Tuck MBA Tournament

Bonus round: If you haven't given hockey much thought before, check out these zany facts.

  • In the early days, a frozen patty of cow manure was used as the puck.
  • Most people know that the best NHL team wins a championship trophy called The Stanley Cup. But did you know that each player on the winning team gets to spend a day with the Cup? Naturally, a tradition has emerged where players use the Cup as a bowl and eat anything from cereal to poutine to ice cream out of it.
  • Our very own Chicago Blackhawks have won six Stanley Cup championships since their founding in 1926. The Montreal Canadiens hold the record with 24 wins.
