Dear <<First Name>>,

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Sherford Consortium, the partnership of homebuilders responsible for the creation of this major new community in the South Hams, comprised of Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Taylor Wimpey.

We would like to say thank you for the support that the local community has shown towards the creation of Sherford. We are proud to lead this prestigious project forward and are committed to ensuring the highest standards as the new community takes shape.
Five Facts About Sherford
  • Planning for Sherford has spanned over 20 years. But, with the build having officially started at the beginning of the month, it's now closer than ever.
  • In excess of £1billion will be invested in Sherford, with the Homes and Communities Agency injecting £32 million into the project in 2013 to help get the first phase of work underway.
  • 5,500 new homes and over 80,000 m² employment and retail space will be created, with the first homes going up for sale in 2016 - we'll keep you posted!
  • Community facilities will include: a town hall, youth centre, health centre, library, theatre, sports centre and a community park.
  • The Sherford Skills Training Scheme will provide training, experience and long-term employment opportunities during every phase of the construction, providing a lasting legacy for local people.
£1M Environmental Investment Kickstarts Sherford Build

A major investment has been made in the Sherford community even before the first brick has been laid, with more than £1m worth of planting and environmental improvements already taking place. The work forms part of the largest habitat creation scheme in the South West, and has seen 200,000 trees (22 hectares) already planted on site by local contractors.

This is the first stage in creating a 500-acre community parkland, which will be accompanied by allotments, urban parks, communal gardens, as well as an extensive network of cycle and footpaths, designed by the award winning South West based landscape and urban design practice Lavigne Lonsdale.
Sherford Archaeology Open Day
Sherford will soon be the home of a brand new thriving community, but a recent archaeological dig has discovered that throughout history many other communities once lived and worked on the same land. This October, you are invited to see the historic discoveries for yourself at our archaeology open day.
Plymouth Museum and Devon County Council Archaeologist, Stephen Reed, will be taking to the site to discuss its Iron Age history and the Romano British period in Devon. Wessex Archaeology will also be giving talks on the excavation process and the geophysical survey results will be on show. It’s set to be a great day for history lovers and we hope see you there!
Sherford Archaeology Open Day: 3rd October, 10am - 4pm
