Issue No. 1

Join us in worship this “Star Sunday” as we celebrate the return of the Magi and receive a Star-word. We’ll give thanks to God and offer a prayer of hope for our 2019 journey.
Worship Service

Christmas Day might be behind us but (as of this email) we're still in the season of Christmas! (Hence, the 12 days of Christmas.) We'll wrap up this season and welcome the next with Epiphany this Sunday! As has become our tradition, this is our "Star Sunday" in which everyone will be given a word to hold in their heart for the year. As always, we'll sing, pray and be church together. Pastor Alex preaching. Childcare available.
January's Loose Change Mission Partner is ABC House.

Find this link on our website, under 'Events'.
Lenten Devotion Tradition

There is a tradition at South Church of asking for poems, essays, inspiration, of your own or of your choosing to share as our Lenten Devotions. This year, the deacons invite you to reflect on THE SACRED TERRAIN OF OUR JOURNEYS. We hope everyone will give of yourselves in this way during this time of discernment. Details and submission info here.
Loose Change: December Mission Partner Update

Hancock Courts, our December mission partner, was the recipient of December's loose change offering. We decorated Hancock Courts and threw a Christmas/Birthday party for 25 kids compliments of South Church! It was a fun filled slime fest with dolls, toys, games, and a dance party with lots of smiles and fun play. Folks from BOWS and our former BOWS Chair picked up gifts and party supplies for the kids.
