Service Central

Helping to define our God-given gifts and how we can best use them in service to ourselves, South Church, and others.

Using feedback from ONCET, we are working to implement our vision of "boldly embodying God's Love and Compassion."
  1. Responding to the needs of modern family schedules, we moved worship a half an hour earlier and refocused on providing an hour-long worship, without sacrificing quality or faithfulness.
  2. Our Minister of Music, Cathy Meyer, has been working with our Communications Administrator, Nora Pelt, to widen the welcome of our growing youth music choirs into the Andover community and beyond.
  3. Fran Healey is faithfully leading the effort to bring the Andover Farmer's Market to South Church beginning next June as we help South Church grow into more creative relationships with our neighbors.
  4. Kate Jagger and Dave Welbourn have been hard at work collecting best practices of other congregations as we discern a new governance structure that reduces burn-out and lifts up individual gifts and passions.
There’s more work to be done, and you’ll hear more from us in the next year. We would like to find ways to include everyone in the South Church community. With that in mind, we would like to offer a quote or prayer about purpose and giving. We will share them in emails like this and eventually in a blog.
This quote is often attributed to Shakespeare. Whether he or someone else originally wrote this, we may never know. But it doesn’t matter. It asks us to really contemplate: what are my gifts, and how do I offer them?
