FoodProWest 2016 a Smashing Success!

Thank you dear members, for making the 2016 FoodProWest so successful! This year we saw an increase in tradeshow booths by more than 50% and just shy of 400 people attended our Awards Gala, a full house!  Our ‘Appetite for Growth’ saw us grow into our new space at the Westin Bayshore and fill up the entire ballroom. And what about that awesome décor from Ideon Packaging! Congratulations to all our well deserving award nominees and winners.

Improve productivity, quality and staff engagement within by using LEAN Management, Theory of Constraints, and other improvement methods.

The principles and practice of LEAN (Lead, Educate, Apply, Network) are recognized globally as one of the most powerful and effective ways to build and sustain continuous improvement in organizations. More importantly, Lean thinking is a powerful way to help you address key business challenges:
  • Improve your ability to control costs and profitability by maximizing efficiency throughout your organization and wider supply chain
  • Boost employee engagement and retention by developing and embedding a Lean culture of “Value for people”
  • Manage and sustain growth by effectively investing in areas that drive customer value.
At this event you will learn how to start a LEAN journey, and take part in a simulation with audience participation to learn how LEAN works!

Also, you will learn about BC Hydro's new cost saving programs and get energy tips from Business Energy Advisors. We have several associates there ready to help you with operational excellence, and look forward to another full house!

Economic Impact Study – Released June 28th at our AGM

BCFPA has partnered with MNP LLP (MNP) to assess the economic impact of the food and beverage processing industry to BC’s economy, identify industry strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, as well as identify potential solutions and recommendations to better support the industry.

The final output of this study will help the BCFPA’s efforts in demonstrating the importance of the food and beverage processing industry, which the BCFPA will share with the industry, government, and other key industry stakeholders.  We are excited to share the results of this project at our Annual General Meeting on June 28th!

HR Peer Group Wage Survey

Would love to see 15 more companies join!

We are only two weeks away from the June 15 deadline to register for the BCFPA Annual Wage and Benefits Survey. If you are planning your 2017, you’ll want this wage information – and here is great value for participating – 80 percent off!! 30 companies are already participating.

With over 65 benchmark positions, the BCFPA has the most comprehensive information available for the food processing industry. Information includes ranges, 25th, 50th and 75th percentiles for base and total compensation as well as target and actual bonus information. In addition to compensation, the survey almost provides information on a wide range of policies and benefits such as RRSP, Performance Rewards, perks, Vacation and Sick Time and group benefits.

The survey will be published in October 2016 and available for $1,000. Take advantage of great savings by participating this year and purchasing the survey for the participant rate of $200! This is well below comparative surveys for other industry associations as well as general surveys issued by compensation firms.
