Legislative Update
We've been meeting with members of the Election Committees in both the House and Senate and it is clear that redistricting reform faces a lot of resistance.  So, it's more important than ever that we make our voices heard and let legislators know that a large majority of their constituents support redistricting reform.
Citizens Lobby Day
It appears that HB1014 will get a hearing in the House Elections Committee on Wednesday, February 8th at 3:30 p.m. in Room 156A of the State House.  It is critical that a large crowd of citizens attend this hearing to send the committee a clear signal - the public is watching and we want reform.
It is also critical that citizens talk to their legislators about this issue.  To facilitate that, the Indiana Coalition for Independent Redistricting will host a Citizens Lobby Day on Feb. 8th, before the House Elections Committee meeting at 3:30 p.m.
We will have training on how to be a citizen lobbyist and how to organize events back home.  We will also provide talking points on HB1014 and up to date information on likely amendments.  The training will begin at 10:30 a.m. and after lunch we will head over to the State House, where you can put your newly-learned skills to work talking to your legislators.  You will need to call them in advance to let them know you are coming and make an appointment for a meeting.
This event is free but we do need your RSVP to make sure we have enough food and materials.  Please RSVP to  Even if you can't spend the whole day with us, please plan to attend the committee hearing at 3:30 in Room 156A of the State House.
Can't Make it To The State House?
Not a problem.  You can still make your voice heard.  Please contact your state representative and tell them that you support redistricting reform and you want them to vote for HB1014.

Please stay posted.  Things at the State House can change very quickly and this committee meeting has not been posted yet so it could change.  Once it is official you will receive another message from us to confirm.

Please see the links below for the Coalition's suggestions for improving HB1014 and a link to the Indiana General Assembly website that has information about HB1014.

Thank you for all that you do.  We can make this happen.
