1. Spring is in the air.

Spring is in the air, which gives us fresh energy to start up some new activities!
The first big step we made this year is the official founding of the Society for Mental Space Psychology. Lucas Derks, Robert Hemelaar and René Koppelaar signed the establishment papers on Monday March 13th at the notary’s office in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

From now on we can build expeditiously on our mission to facilitate and share content, news, articles and other interesting products in the field of mental space psychology.

2. What I yet had to say.

Adrian Schweizer wrote a very interesting article, which was published in the German magazine “Praxis Kommunikation” in June 2016. Adrian Schweizer describes his working with a combination of three techniques: NLP, Social Panorama and the technique from the Tibetan tradition. In this article he explains how he helps his client Jennifer to let go of her dead father and by doing so, she overcomes her depression. Albert Schweizer is a lawyer, mediator and executive coach in Germany and Switserland, and we thank him for sharing this interesting article with us.

3. Magic, trauma and depression in Mental Space .

Magic, Trauma and Depression in Mental Space is a new online training program from Andrew T. Austin and Lucas Derks for mastering your inner demons.

Combining the unusual talents of Andrew and Lucas, this video-based program explores themes of mental experience that will be new to even the most seasoned therapist, personal development aficionado and mental space explorer. “Magic, depression and trauma in mental space” is a unique body of work to enable effective exploration and change in our internal world of thought, experience and imagination.

4. 19th Conference on Spatial Cognition ICSC.

Depending on the political situation, we will attend the 19th Conference on Spatial Cognition ICSC, to be held in Istanbul, Turkey on October 26 and 27, 2017. During that conference Lucas Derks will give a presentation about Depression in Awareness Space (DAS), a psychotherapeutic method based on NLP and spatial cognition to reduce the distress of clients with depression.

5. Follow-up research.

Last year Christine Beenhakker has done a pilot study on this DAS method and the results study were very promising.

In our next newsletter you will find an article about this, including the results of the pilot study.
In order to really prove the relevance of the DAS method and to give it a scientific basis, we are going to expand our research with more therapists and a bigger research population. The follow-up research will take place under the auspices of the Society for Mental Space Psychology. For this follow-up research we are looking for qualified therapists who are sufficiently conversant with the theory and practice of mental space. The therapists concerned will be screened and trained in advance in order to perform the DAS intervention technique as carefully as possible.

If you are an NLP master and/or a Social Panorama Consultant, are an experienced therapist and are interested in partaking in this research, then please send a mail to Christine Beenhakker. On Tuesday 17 October 2017 a one-day (free) workshop will be held for all screened therapists, in which the research protocol and the DAS method are explained and practised. More information about this will be published in the following newsletter.

6. Growth.

The Society of Mental Space is growing steadily and we are ongoing looking for people who are interested in joining us. In our organigram you can see which vacancies still need to be fulfilled. If you are interested, please contact Robert Hemelaar.

7. Next newsletter.
