NEBRA Awarded $6000 in Grant Funding by USA Cycling

The New England Bicycle Racing Association has been awarded four $1500 Local Association Grants for 2019 to support programming in our region. The LA Grant program was created by USA Cycling as a way for the 34 Local Associations to apply for additional funds for programming beyond their contracted roles. NEBRA submitted applications for four grants this fall, and all four were approved and fully funded. This provided $6000 in funding to enable NEBRA to continue our mission to advance, support, and develop the bike racing community and the sport of cycling in New England.

Grants will provide support for Introductory Rider Clinics such as the ones at the Southern New England Women's Developmental Series (shown below), Rider Outreach and Promotions like our presence at the RaceMania Multisport Expo, and Officials Continuing Education, like that at the Northeast Officials Symposium (header photo).

The fourth grant will allow NEBRA to officially begin providing support for our region's mountain bike racers and event directors, thus achieving one of NEBRA's long-term goals. Beginning in 2020, NEBRA will finally have the mandate and support from USA Cycling to service all aspects of competitive cycling in our region. A full announcement of this exciting new role will come in early 2020.

2020 NEBRA Promoters Summit Sunday, January 26th

NEBRA will be hosting our Fifth Annual Promoters Summit on Sunday, January 26th. The Summit will be held at the Eastworks building in Easthampton, Massachusetts in the West End meeting space. Follow signs for Riff's Joint: We are directly across the hall.

This is a full-day event, featuring a number of talks and group discussions geared toward making 2020 a productive and successful season for New England cycling. We encourage both current event directors and potential event directors in the New England region to attend.

Our speakers will include NEBRA staff, regional officials, and event promoters.
All are welcome to attend, and there is no cost. We do ask that you pre register via BikeReg so we can have enough snacks to go around.
