The Holy Spirit
By Pastor Mark Jeske

I know this may sound a little crazy, but one of my prayer heroes is the Holy Spirit. Yes—there is actually a lot of praying that has gone on within the Holy Trinity itself. Seriously!

You recall, of course, how often Jesus prayed to his heavenly Father during his time on earth. Now at the Father’s right hand, Jesus pleads for the believers on the basis of his saving work. Did you know that the Spirit is a terrific pray-er also? “The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26).

Aspiring writers who desire their work to be published should realize that they need an editor. Editors clean up and tighten up early drafts so that the final copy says just what the author needs it to say. Isn’t it a spectacular comfort to know that our sometimes incoherent, sometimes stammered, sometimes selfish, sometimes misdirected prayers go to the Father, not only through the name of Jesus but also through the editorial desk of God the Holy Spirit? Amazing!

This means that you can feel free to pray even when you fear your thoughts aren’t completely collected, or when you’re having trouble putting your feelings into words. The Holy Spirit will bring perfect prayers to the Father. Every time.
