What to Expect at Middle School Camp? 
Get ready for games, worship, dramas, sports, music, and speakers! Next Generation Ministries in partnership with Barefoot Republic has opened registration for 2018 Middle School summer camp, July 30 - Aug. 4. Click here to see the full schedule and here for registration details. 
 

2018 Summer Camps at Pinelands Center 

Next Generation Ministries will be hosting three separate camping programs for GNJ youth for middle school, high school and Latino students. Info and updates are being added to the Next Gen website regularly. Click here or contact Ryan Clements with questions. 
 

Give the Gift of Camp 

The cost of a week of camp is simply out of reach for many families. GNJ is committed to not let cost be a barrier to any student wanting to attend our summer camps. This New Year, give to the GNJ Camp Scholarship Fund. Next Gen board members have enthusiastically agreed to give a "first fruits" gift of their own to get the fund started. Ethnic Young Adult Summer Internship 

The Global Board of Church and Society is now accepting applications for their 2018 Summer Ethnic Young Adult program, an eight-week program for young justice-seekers interested in faith, advocacy and social change Application due March 1. Click here for more info.

Denman Award Nomination due Feb. 15 

The Harry Denman Evangelism Awards honor United Methodists whose exceptional ministry of evangelism brings people into a life transforming relationship with Jesus Christ every year. Nominations must be received no later than February 15 to be considered for the 2018 awards. 2018 Legislation and Reports Deadline Next Week

Submit reports and recommendations (legislation) here for the 2018 GNJ Annual Conference by Feb. 14. Reports and recommendations received thereafter will not be published in the pre-conference journal, nor will they be addressed at the 2018 Annual Conference without special permission from the Bishop.

Laity, bring your pastors for a resource day on March 3 at Bethany Wayne UMC and apply your learnings for your ministry and community. "Take the Lead: Tools for Laity" will feature keynote speaker Mike Mather of Broadway UMC in Indianapolis. UMCOR Begins Coordinating Specialized ERTs 

UMCOR has begun coordinating ERTs to Puerto Rico in cooperation with the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico. The first teams to be deployed will be Specialized Early Response Teams. These teams will be oriented to address circumstances unique to this location and situation and beyond the general scope of work for our more traditional ERTs. Click here for more info.

Morrow UMC Youth Advocate for Dreamers in D.C. 
Young people from Morrow UMC traveled to Washington, D.C. to advocate with congress for a clean DREAM act, witnessing in the midst of political debate. Click here to watch their video as they stand and speak on behalf of the immigrant community of America. 
 
GNJ Immigration Task Force for Dreamers 
A special task force created by the GNJ Board of Church and Society is advocating for Congressional legislation for the DACA Program (Differed Action for Childhood Arrival).  If you’d like to engage your congregation Click here for more info and resources.

2018 Health Reimbursement Account Contribution

The Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) is provided to participants per approval by the Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits. Effective Jan. 1, all participants enrolled in HealthFlex received their annual HRA contribution from GNJ. Click here for more info

Pre-Retirement Seminar - March 1 

GNJ's Board of Pension and Health Benefits is presenting a Pre-retirement Seminar for pastors and their spouses. A benefits educator from Wespath will speak on retirement planning on March 1 at the Mission and Resource Center for those planning to retire in the next five years. The session will also feature a speaker from the Social Security Administration on Social Security and Medicare. Click here for details and to register. 
 

Church Mutual 2018 Religious Scholars Program 

Church Mutual Insurance Company Foundation is offering 50 scholarships of $5,000 each to advanced religious scholars. Click here to learn more. 

 

Lay Ministry Recognition 2018

Racial Ethnic Grants 

The General Board of Global Ministries invites you to apply for grants that will be awarded in Spring 2018. The deadline is Feb. 23. These grants have assisted nonprofits, churches, annual conferences, and other community organizers in the areas of leadership and congregational development, ministry with the poor and health ministries.
