GNJ Ministry Candidate Granted Bossey Scholarship
Rachel Callender, a 24-year-old student at Princeton Seminary and a member of St. John’s UMC in Hazlet has been awarded a scholarship from the Council of Bishops to attend The Ecumenical Institute at Bossey. Rachel is a candidate to become a deacon in Greater New Jersey. The $10,000 award, one of three ecumenical scholarship programs offered by the Council of Bishops, will be applied to the program starting in September 2019.

Congregational Development Grants deadline Oct. 5
GNJ provides development grants to leaders and congregations for innovative ministry that connects with people in the community and develops lay and clergy leadership to make disciples and grow vital congregations to transform the world. In alignment with our new strategic plan, particular emphasis will be placed on starting new faith communities, growing youth ministry, growing worship attendance to the next size, and engaging in missional ministry in the community. Click here for more information and to download the application form. Property Tax Exemption Filing 

Be sure to file your triennial property tax exemption form with your local authorities by the Nov. 1 deadline to avoid any possibility of losing your church’s property tax exempt status and becoming liable for thousands of dollars in property tax assessments. Seeking Church Histories  

GNJ Commission on Archives and History seeks church histories for the annual Local Church History Contest. All church histories must be submitted by Jan. 16, 2019. Church Histories may be submitted under one of three categories. For further info contact vice-chair Don DeGroat or call 570-646-9298.

Shared Ministry and Conference Billing Deadline
Shared ministry is at the foundation of United Methodisim. All churches should submit their shared ministry and conference billing payments for 2018 by Jan. 16, 2019. Click here for more information.

ATLANTA — The United Methodist Board of Global Ministries is taking applications from young Christian adults who are interested in becoming Global Mission Fellows.
