Congregational Development Grants for 2019 
GNJ provides development grants to leaders and congregations for innovative ministry that connects with people in the community and develops lay and clergy leadership to make disciples and grow vital congregations to transform the world. Celebrating 50th Anniversary of The UMC 

The GNJ United Methodist Historical Society invites all to a special morning presentation by Rev. Day’s interactive presentation will be on celebrating the 50th anniversary of The United Methodist Church which is this year’s Heritage Sunday theme. Church Women United of N.J. State Assembly General Fall Meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 at Faith Community UMC Fellowship Hall in Bayville, NJ, featuring speaker April Foster on "Interrupting the Cycle of Poverty." Registration is $5 and food pantry item. United Methodist Communities at The Shores, located in Ocean City, opened Tapestries II Memory Care Residence. Comfort Matters, a nationally recognized, accredited program, lies at the heart of this expansion and makes United Methodist Communities memory care residences unique and has expanded the total number of residents from 28 to 50. Laity Sunday, Oct. 21  
Laity Sunday is a special Sunday established by the General Conference. While Laity Sunday can be observed any Sunday, it is traditionally to be observed on the third Sunday of October (this year, October 21, 2018). This Sunday focuses on the celebration of the ministry of all lay Christians. Teen Creates Video to Explain DACA 
Sherlyn Rueda is doing her part to help her friends and classmates understand immigration issues. The 13-year-old member of the Ministerio Metodista Amistad y Fe learned animation in her school and created a video to explain the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which supports children who were brought to the U.S. illegally. Rueda and her siblings are all DACA recipients. Click here to read the story and here to watch the video. 
 
49th NEJ BMCR Annual Meeting
