Starting July 1, Jana Purkis-Brash will be the new Executive Director of The United Methodist Stewardship Foundation of Greater New Jersey. Having led congregations, managed stewardship campaigns and raised significant funds through capital campaigns, Jana's pastoral and executive leadership experience will serve GNJ. Additionally, Juel Nelson will be the new Director of Leadership, working with laity and clergy to develop and grow apostolic leaders. As an apostolic leader, Juel has grown the worship, new disciples, ministry and finances of each church she has led and brings a unique, innovative spirit to GNJ. Click here to read more.

Social Media as a Tool for Evangelism
Self-avowed and practicing ecumenist, Regina Heater, will be leading a workshop at 'OUTBOUND: A Day on Evangelism' about using social media as tool for evangelism. Heater has worked extensively with the #chsocm (church and social media) community as a participant and chat moderator, co-founded a Twitter chat about the intersection of health and spirituality and has focused on e-formation - using digital tools for faith formation. Paul Nixon Talks Changing Ministry Gears
Rev. Paul Nixon, a United Methodist pastor who coaches church leaders in North America and Europe will be the keynote speaker at 'OUTBOUND: A Day on Evangelism.' A Future With Hope remains committed to the thousands of families working to get over the finish line following Superstorm Sandy. This week, much of our work has been in Atlantic City where we have completed 52 homes and Brigantine where we have finished 2 homes. Bishop Praying for Capital District
Bishop Schol has begun a new ministry of praying for clergy, laity and churches in a different district each week. This week he is praying for the Capital District. As part of this ministry he is inviting leaders of each district to share prayer concerns, joys and stories of how God is making a difference in GNJ congregations.
We're putting together a great line up of workshops for the 2017 Annual Conference at the Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood on May 21-23. Trey Wince, Director of New Disicples, will be leading a workshop called 'How to Lead Your Congregation Through Change' where participants will learn how to practice habits from great change-makers. 'Rise Against Hunger' at Annual Conference
GNJ will be out in force packaging meals at Annual Conference for 'Rise Against Hunger.' (formerly known as 'Stop Hunger Now'). Rise Against Hunger seeks to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world's most vulnerable and create a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. Last year at annual conference, GNJ packaged 30,000 meals. Join on us on Monday, May 22 at 3:45 p.m. at the Wildwoods Convention Center. More info and registration will open on March 15. Conferences to Consider 5 Constitutional Amendments
Discipleship Ministries is offering the 'One Matters Discipleship Award' to lift up churches who have moved from zero in professions of faith and baptisms to positive numbers in recent years due to their renewed focus on intentional discipleship. Awardees will receive a One Matters plaque and $1,000 to continue their ministries of intentional discipleship. If you're interested in participating, send an email here or call (615)340-7260.
The GNJ Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry is now accepting applications for the 2017 scholarship opportunities. A letter was mailed to each church and more information can be found here. Deadline: March 31.
March 2, 2017: Pre-Retirement Seminar
The Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits is presenting a Pre-Retirement Seminar for pastors and their spouses. A benefits educator from the Wespath Benefits and Investments will speak on retirement planning on March 2. for those planning to retire in the next five years.
