Campaign Overview
Your congregation is invited to experience a miracle. Miracles Everywhere will raise $3,197,000 for Next Gen ministries to focus on faith formation for youth and young adults, $1,000,000 for A Future With Hope to develop 100 Hope Centers, $500,000 for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico, Texas, Florida, and Cuba and $500,000 for Tanzanian pastors and congregations to make new disciples for the transformation of the world. "WE CARE" Rally to Feature Harriett Olson UMW President and Javier Viera from Drew 

On Saturday, July 28, the GNJ Board of Church and Society in collaboration with the GNJ Hispanic/Latino Committee will host the “We Care” Prayer Rally at the U.S. Immigration Detention Center in Elizabeth, NJ, in support of immigrant children who have been separated from their parents. Harriett Olson, General Secretary of United Methodist Women (UMW) and Drew Theological School Dean Javier Viera will be among the speakers. Join United Methodists from GNJ and other people of faith as we prayerfully witness to our faith, denounce the mistreatment of immigrants and call for fair immigration reform. Click here for details

Moving Expenses 

The December 2017 tax law changed the way clergy moving expenses are recorded and taxed. Moving expense payments are now considered plan compensation for certain Wespath Benefit Plans. A moving expense submission form is required for local churches to complete in order to advise GNJ of the moving expense payment made out to clergy. Click here for further details of the tax law change, Q&A’s for clergy and plan sponsors, and obtain the moving expense form. 

Church Conference Season Begins 

As GNJ enters into the next season of church conferences, you will find many redesigned resources and instructions available to help you complete your reports and improve overall user experience. To view your district's conference schedule, a checklist of required reports, and detailed info, click here. Arena login info was emailed July 2 to church leadership. Church Health Insurance Rates for 2019 

The Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits (CBOPHB) has set the health insurance premium rates for local churches, effective Jan. 1, 2019Click here for more info.

Blueprint for Wellness Open Until July 31

Blueprint for Wellness screenings are available for GNJ employees at local Quest Labs now through July 31. This provides an opportunity to learn about your health, earn $100 PulseCash and up to 120 Wellness points as well as personal data on 30 health factors. Click here to sign up.

This year's Laity Leadership Academy on Oct. 6 at the Mission and Resource Center in Neptune will feature a track facilitated by Betty Quakenboss, Rev. Newly Registered Historic Sites in GNJ 

The General Commission on Archives & History has processed GNJ's most recently approved sites submitted to their offices and added them to the list of official Historic Sites of The United Methodist Church.  They are Evangelical UMC in Clarksboro, Kingwood UMC in Stockton and Emanuel UMC, Union City.

Seeking Church Histories 

GNJ Commission on Archives and History seeks church histories for the annual Local Church History Contest. All church histories must be submitted by Jan. 16, 2019. Church Histories may be submitted under one of three categories. For further info contact vice-chair Don DeGroat or call 570-646-9298.
Director of Development 
Applications for the position of Director of Development for the United Methodist Stewardship Foundation of Greater New Jersey are being sought. The position will further the mission and ministry of GNJ by organizing and leading fundraising campaigns, cultivating and raising large gifts, and planning, and encouraging congregational investment in the Stewardship Foundation. See the position description and application here

Civil Rights Pilgrimage Applications due July 30
A diverse group of high school students will spend a year in small group study and special field trips scheduled for school vacations to get a deeper  understanding of racial justice in our country and in our lives. The United Methodist Communications Public Information Team is hosting two upcoming webinars to support local churches as they strive to embrace social media and its uses for outreach and ministry. Both webinars, July 26 and Sept. 12, are free and appropriate for users at all experience levels; the events will feature experts answering questions and sharing information about strategies, tips, best practices and more.
