Disaster Response

Relief and Recovery Updates 

To date, GNJ has collected over $242,000 for UMCOR disaster relief for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Yesterday, Sam Perez, a member of Bishop Janes UMC delivered a check from GNJ for $50,000 directly to Bishop Hector Ortiz in Puerto Rico for relief efforts. Thank you! In Greater New Jersey, we know what disaster feels like as we continue to work on recovery five years after Superstorm Sandy. Lives Transformed at IGNITE 2017 

Last weekend, over 1,300 students and youth leaders from throughout GNJ came out for the 2017 IGNITE youth conference in Wildwood. Click here to watch a wrap-up video and read more about how lives were changed from students.

Serving Others in Times of Tragedy 
As we process our horror and grief after the mass shooting in Las Vegas, we may want to find ways to heal by serving others. Writer Joe Iovino reminds us that a great guide for finding ways to minister to our neighbors is found in Matthew 25:31-46. Jesus tells the helpers that they served him by serving those in the greatest need. Click here to read.
