A Time for Change

More than 200 people participated in the three racial justice listening sessions that finished up this past Monday. The diverse audience reinforced the need for change and a call for action toward racial justice following the suffocation of George Floyd by a police officer. GNJ individuals and congregations have participated in rallies and demonstrations, pastors have preached messages and have led conversations about a faithful response for racial justice, inclusion, equity and ending racism.

Deepen Faith

Silence is No Longer Golden, Rev. Kay Dubuisson
In the 40 Days of Prayer: God of Justice, help us to not keep silence in the midst of pain and suffering. Do not let us settle for a false peace, instead help us to work with passion and love until all the world experiences true peace, Amen.

I was having a conversation with a colleague about the recent unrest surrounding police violence and racism in America. During this conversation, I was told that Haitians are silent to the cause of African Americans in America. Immediately, I became defensive. I lashed out with many excuses, while simultaneously trying to process what was, for me, a rude awakening. Read more

Susan Beaumont, spiritual coach and author of "How to Lead When You Don't Know Where You're Going," frames 10 questions leaders should ask in this time of ministry. She writes, “The questions are merely an invitation to pay exquisite attention—to notice why we are making the choices we make, and what wants to happen next. The Centenary Fund

The Centenary Fund and Preachers Aid Society was established in 1857. The purpose of the fund is to provide maximum assistance in times of need for the support of retired clergy, surviving spouses and dependent children of deceased clergy who have served in GNJ.
